Tara Brown (taralynn_80) | 62 comments I want to read a minimum of 100 books and spread out my wings in different genres. I spent most of 2013 in the YA genre. Want to get into more classics and historical and other types that I normally don't flock toward.

Good luck, Tara! I'm sure you'll find a lot of recommendations for classics and other genres around here. :)

Tara Brown (taralynn_80) | 62 comments Thank you both! Making my list now for January's historical read challenge. I am excited! Just started a book today and am going to try and get it done today so that I can start the challenge with a clean slate tomorrow!

I hope you read some interesting books!

Tara Brown (taralynn_80) | 62 comments Thank you ladies! This is a year to expand my horizons in literature and not stick in the same 2 genres I typically find myself reading. I need a challenge!

message 10: by Ola (new)

Ola (polabear85) Good luck Tara! That's a great goal. I'd be interested to know which books you'll choose for your historical January reads, I LOVE historical fiction (though it feels like I used to read more of it than I do now).

Clare | 34 comments Good luck Tara :)

message 12: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) so what are you reading so far Tara? just curious.

message 13: by Tara (new)

Tara Brown (taralynn_80) | 62 comments Ola and Amber, for the genre challenge this month I have read Precious Bones, A Great and Terrible Beauty, and The Sister Queens. The rest of my reads have been for fun and not in the historical genre.

message 14: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) okay awesome! I just asked overall. :)

message 15: by Tara (new)

Tara Brown (taralynn_80) | 62 comments Amber, I'm finishing up Sister Queens and then will start Northanger Abbey. I am also reading The Unquiet, which I am enjoying so far. Also reading the Daniel Plan by Rick Warren, my MIL asked me to read it with her.

message 16: by Amber (new)

Tara Brown (taralynn_80) | 62 comments Amber, what all are u reading right now?

message 18: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Well right now I am reading book 3 of the pizza lover's mystery series called A pizza to die for by Chris cavender and it is pretty good so far. the series is about two sisters who own a pizzeria and solve mysteries. I got hooked on the series when I read book two pepperoni pizza can be murder last year and am now on book three. I'm almost done with it so I can get to my next read. earlier this week I read a few graphic novels that were pretty good and two novellas.

Tara Brown (taralynn_80) | 62 comments Pizza lovers mystery sounds interesting. May have to look into that!

message 20: by Amber (last edited Jan 11, 2014 12:39PM) (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) it's by chris cavender and there are 6 books in the series. it's pretty good tara. I got into it because pizza is my fave food and they have pizza recipes in the back of them. after book 3, I got books 1, 4, 5, and 6 to go so I might spread those out reading them this year.

message 21: by Tara (new)

Tara Brown (taralynn_80) | 62 comments My fav is pizza too! Homemade pizza is made in my house every week! I would probably get the books for the recipes alone!!!

message 22: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberterminatorofgoodreads) Awesome. :-)

Tara Brown (taralynn_80) | 62 comments So this month seemed to be difficult for me to get my reading done. I kept getting distracted by other books I want to read but then I didn't want roster them until I finished what I had going and ended up not finishing many books at all. I need to have less books going at once next month and stop going online to the library and borrowing too many books at once. Goal for March: finish Northanger Abbey, Tess of the D'Urbervilles, and Pet Semetary, read The Maze Runner. After that I will read whatever YA book I can get my hands on for the genre of the month.
