Lauren Smith The epic challenge is for 500+ page tomes - the epic novels we sometimes shy away from especially when trying to complete other reading challenges. You only need to read one 500+ page book in the 3-month period to complete the challenge, but you can read as many as you want and list them here, with the number of pages you've read.

To make things easier for me and to be sure I get the tally right at the end of the challenge, please use one post for planning and keeping track of your total page count, and be clear about how much you've read. You can post individual updates and chat about your books, as long as you have one post with all the info :)

Happy reading!

Rules
- Books must be at least 500 pages long.
- Because some people read eBooks that don't have page counts, they are allowed to choose an *appropriate* page count from the editions listed on Goodreads. To avoid being unfair to those reading print copies, they may also choose a higher page count from the list, even if it differs from their copy. After all, you can't always choose the print copy you buy, because of price, availability, etc.
- Note that I said an *appropriate* page count. Use basic editions, not large print, or editions with extra content that you haven't read. Also, you may only use the editions in the language in which you read the book.
- Omnibus editions are not allowed.
- Short story anthologies are allowed.
- If reading a book with indexes or any other content that you skip, make sure the page count of what you actually read amounts to 500+.

Angelique (angelique682) I was supposed to this one the last three months.

I will try again. I have taken a light reading load the next few months especially for these kind of things.
I am in.

And hopefully a last. I have been in a reading depression this year. I have all these great books I really want to read and somehow I don't read. Don't know what's wrong. I only know this time will pass as it has done before. Although sometimes I have to wonder if not reading is the first sign of the apocalypse.

Barbara, at least you made it on to the list. I've also found this year is just not my reading year, but I'm enjoying focusing on some other things and I know the reading time will return at some point in the future.

You aren't on the list! How come I haven't noticed that before. What happened? Are you so busy fencing that you forgot about reading?

Sometimes you just have a period that you read less than you're used to. As long as you don't force it, it will return.

I too have found other hobbies and I am sure the books will still be there when I want them. :)

Busy with lots of stuff as well as fencing, but mostly just didn't feel like reading much so I didn't. I do read a bit, but not as much as normal.

That is the good thing about books, they wait patiently for us to return to them.
