Georgie Cozens | 56 comments Well I hope this is still going, as I saw this about halfway through last year!
I've already read one book! I started at 9am and was one of those books I just couldn't put down!

1. The Last Lecture

message 2: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments Just finished my second book! It was brilliant, a decent chick-lit!

Pictures of Lily

Welcome to our group, and good luck with your 50! :)

(At this rate, you're going to read 365 books this year! Keep it up! ;) )

message 4: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments Just finished my third book! However I'm going to be taking a break from reading for the next 3 weeks to focus on my exams...although I've already bought another 6 books to read!

3. Fahrenheit 451

╟ ♫ Tima ♪ ╣ ♥ (tsunanisaurus) Making me feel lazy over here! I haven't even cracked a book this year, haha! Good luck on your exams :)

message 6: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments Haha thanks! And I think the reason I've read three so quickly is that they weren't particularly big, I wasn't very busy and they were quite good!

Are you kidding me?!? Here I'm *almost* done with my first (although short-ish) book, and I keep thinking, "Man, Tima's probably on, like, book #13 already! I have to pick up my pace!" :D

(Sorry for momentarily hijacking your thread, Georgie)

message 8: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments Haha I don't mind at all! Hijack away :)

message 9: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments Having just finished the exams, the university of course decided to turn off the internet for the day...and so I have spent the day reading!
Quite happily (or rather...sadly, tearfully) read two John Greens!
4. The Fault in Our Stars
5. Looking for Alaska

So I read TFiOS first, as it seems to be THE John Green book to read.
I knew it was going to hurt, and it did, but it was also incredible. I love it for some of the quotes alone! But some of the moments and Hazel's voice and...everything! It definitely lived up to my expectations; devastating, but wonderful!

Not content, I then moved onto 'Looking for Alaska'; not as good as TFiOS, but then again I don't expect any John Green book is! I went into this one blind, having no idea what was going to happen, but I could guess (and lo; I was right.). It wasn't as sad, although I still shed a couple of tears, but it still had some great quotes.

Overall a productive day, and I shall be stocking up on a few more John Green's next time I pass a shop!

message 10: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments Just finished another John Green!

6. Will Grayson, Will Grayson

It was ok. I liked bits of it, and I liked the changing perspective. I thought the ending was a bit weak though.

message 11: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 7. Paper Towns

On a bit of a John Green phase at the moment!
I really liked Paper Towns! It's got everything; mystery, romance, humour and just typical teenagers!

message 12: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 8. Every Day

I liked it, and finished it just in time to start one of the February group reads!

message 13: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 9. Perfume: The Story of a Murderer

Just finished (a bit early, I know!). It was ok - I've got to admit it's not a book I would choose to read normally, and I would have stopped reading it if it weren't a group read, but I feel good for having read it.

message 15: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 11. Have A Little Faith Have A Little Faith by Albom

Wow. It was really good book about faith and really made me think! Mitch really encompasses my feelings about religion perfectly, and manages to cover some pretty heavy topics in a light way! It was so good...just as all of Mitch Albom's books are!

message 16: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 12. Fangirl Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Just read this in less than a day - sooooo good! I think it may be as I am currently in my first year of University...and love Harry Potter...and write/read FanFiction...
Nevertheless, I really enjoyed this book, and it's a new favourite!

message 17: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 13. The First Phone Call from Heaven by Mitch Albom The First Phone Call from Heaven

What can I say, I love Mitch Albom! Such a good book, with some fantastic quotes and a brilliant array of characters. The ending gave me [happy] goosebumps!

message 18: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 14. Graceling (Graceling Realm, #1) by Kristin Cashore Graceling

I really enjoyed it! Quite a good premise, and I enjoyed the fact that it was less romance and more action/fantasy. My only criticism would be that Katsa seemed a bit wooden at times, and they seemed to be forcing the 'independent woman who doesn't need/want a husband' too much.

message 19: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 15. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë Jane Eyre

Absolutely loved it! I can't believe it's taken me this long to read it! It just so beautiful and romantic, and I now know why it is a classic!

message 20: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 16. The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman The Ocean at the End of the Lane

Been a bit busy lately, but finally managed to finish this book! It was quite an odd book...but I'm told that's status quo for Neil Gaiman! I would describe it as a kid's story for adults, and the last couple of chapters were really something. It feels like there's a hidden meaning or moral in there something, but I can't quite work out where...

message 21: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 17. Rivers of London (Peter Grant, #1) by Ben Aaronovitch Rivers of London
My mother has been trying to convince me to read this book for a while, but it wasn't until I stumbled across it myself that I actually read it. I'm so glad I did - it is such a great book! A bit unusual, with a spin on magic that is unusual and familiar at the same time - sort of like a scientific Harry Potter. The style very much reminds of Jasper Fforde, as does the story itself.
I've already got the next two books on my self waiting!

message 22: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 18. Moon Over Soho (Peter Grant, #2) by Ben Aaronovitch Moon Over Soho

After 'Rivers of London' I moved straight onto the second one, and it was so good I'm now moving onto the third!

message 23: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 19. Whispers Under Ground (Peter Grant, #3) by Ben Aaronovitch Whispers Under Ground

Just finished the third one! I'm told there's another one already out, but unfortunately I now have exams, and so I shall have to put my reading on hold until June :(

message 24: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 20. Northanger Abbey by Val McDermid Northanger Abbey

21. Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #1) by Ransom Riggs Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children

I'm back! I've finished Uni for summer, and I'm now on holiday, meaning I've read 2 books in 3 days.

Both really good books, and I can't wait until I get home to read the next book in the Miss Peregrine's series!

message 25: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 22. Persuasion by Jane Austen Persuasion

Just reread Persuasion. It's my second favourite Austen (after the obvious P&P)!

23. Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira Love Letters to the Dead

Wow. Such a good book, and incredibly moving. It draws you in gradually and I found myself crying at the end. Such a good book I would totally recommend it to anyone who enjoys YA books, Chick Lit or (oddly) John Green!

message 26: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 24. The One (The Selection, #3) by Kiera Cass The One

25. How They Met and Other Stories by David Levithan How They Met and Other Stories

Another 2 books in 2 days! Both really good though!

Halfway now - and just past halfway through the year! I'm hoping this is a good sign!

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 27. Anna and the French Kiss (Anna and the French Kiss, #1) by Stephanie Perkins Anna and the French Kiss

Loved it!!!

message 29: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 28. Attachments by Rainbow Rowell Attachments

Just found out the Rainbow Rowell will be visiting my local bookshop in a couple of weeks! Quite excited about that :)

message 30: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 29. Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2) by Stephanie Perkins Lola and the Boy Next Door

Can't wait for the next one!!

message 31: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 30. Just One Day (Just One Day, #1) by Gayle Forman Just One Day

31. Just One Year (Just One Day, #2) by Gayle Forman Just One Year

Just spent the last couple of days reading these, and really enjoyed them! Such a brilliant love story, especially given the fact that Willem and 'Lulu' only spend about half the first book together!
I loved the fact that they seem to just miss each other as well. The only downside is that I would've love a bit more on their reunion!

message 33: by Georgie (last edited Aug 05, 2014 09:51AM) (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 33. Memory by Christoph Marzi Memory
It was ok; I imagine it would be better in it's original language (German) and perhaps more suited for kids than YA as it was labeled

34. Dumbledore's Army and the Year of Darkness by A. Blake Dumbledore's Army and the Year of Darkness
I know that technically it's not a 'book', but it is Novel length, longer than some books I've read, and soooooooo good!!!

35. From What I Remember by Stacy Kramer From What I Remember
Really fun book :)

message 34: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 36. Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss, #3) by Stephanie Perkins Isla and the Happily Ever After

Loved it! I love the way her characters fall in love, and that we get to see the characters from the previous two books. I also enjoy that the whole book isn't about Isla and Josh falling in love - she just gets on with it, so there can be a story besides just falling in love!

message 35: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 37. A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall A Little Something Different

A nice little read :)

message 36: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 38. Monument 14 (Monument 14, #1) by Emmy Laybourne Monument 14

It was quite good, although I think the end was slightly rushed. Unsure about whether there is a sequel, but I probably wouldn't read it if there was.

message 37: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 39. Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore

Absolutely brilliant. Just the right mix of mystery, fantasy and an amazing cast of characters. Almost like a more down to earth Da Vinci code!!

message 38: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 40. Once (Once, #1) by Morris Gleitzman Once

Bought and read in about 3 hours. Absolutely heartbreakingly sad - the innocence of a young jewish boy, not quite realising what's happening.

message 39: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 41. An Abundance of Katherines by John Green An Abundance of Katherines

I'm doing Maths at University, so I loved how mathsy this book was!

message 40: by Georgie (last edited Sep 29, 2014 03:21PM) (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 42. Thirteen chairs by Dave Shelton Thirteen chairs

It wasn't what I was expecting when I picked it up, but it was still good. Slightly scary/creepy, but not so much that I couldn't sleep at night! I would have liked slightly more expansion of the story outside the stories (not to give too much away), but an enjoyable read.

message 41: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 43. The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith The Geography of You and Me

I absolutely adores this book! I originally bought it because of the author, having read her other two books and loved them (without realising she was the author of both of them), and this one certainly lived up to the standard! I really loved the minimalist 'chapters' at places in the book, especially at the end of Part III.

message 42: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 44. The Moment Collector by Jodi Lynn Anderson The Moment Collector

It was ok, nothing special. I was slightly disappointed by the ending/'big reveal', but I think that was the point. Also, for a book where the blurb talks about a ghost, she doesn't really feature much!

message 43: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 45. Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1) by Gail Carriger Etiquette & Espionage

A fun book, and my first foray into Steampunk!

message 44: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 46. Curtsies & Conspiracies (Finishing School, #2) by Gail Carriger Curtsies & Conspiracies So I'm in love with this series! I picked this book up at 8.05 this morning and I've just finished it at 7.15pm!! Moving onto the next one as soon as it's delivered ;)

message 45: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 47. The Originals by Cat Patrick The Originals

I love Cat Patrick, so when I saw this book I just had to read it! Absolutely loved it.

message 46: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 48. The Testing (The Testing, #1) by Joelle Charbonneau The Testing

Typical Dystopian novel - set in the USA in the future, land ravaged by war and natural disaster and a (potentially) evil government forcing teens from different areas of the country fight each other to the death.
Having said that, I did enjoy it!!

☼♎ Carmen the Bootyshaker Temptress ☼♎ Georgie your almost there. Yeah!!

message 48: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments Haha I know! Totally can't believe it! I almost didn't think I'd manage it, but now I'm pretty sure I can finish 2 more in the 2 months ;)

message 49: by Georgie (new)

Georgie Cozens | 56 comments 49. Waistcoats & Weaponry (Finishing School, #3) by Gail Carriger Waistcoats & Weaponry

So I got this book this morning...and I finished it within 6 hours. I adore this series...just a shame I'll have to wait so long for the next one!!

message 50: by Donna (new)

Donna | 1350 comments Be jealous. Gail Carriger is going to be at my local library next week. Books for autographing already in the car.
