Do you think that Sookie and Eric are meant to be?

message 2: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I sure hope so!!!!! I'd read an interview with Charlaine Harris awhile ago and according to her, she has known since the beginning who Sookie will end up with. I'm not sure how many books she will write in this series, but I'm really wishing for a Sookie/Eric HEA!

My husband said that the audiobooks for the sookie stackhouse series were really amazing. He is obsessed with audiobooks. LOL He gets very excited when he finds one that translates to audiobook well.
Have you watched True Blood?

message 4: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I have not watched True Blood. Partly because I don't subscribe to Showtime, but also because I'm not sure the books would translate well enough for me to enjoy the show. From everything I've heard, it's more a show based on those characters. I've been a long time Charlaine Harris fan and I am too afraid I'll not be happy with the tv show so I haven't seen it.

Jackie M | 452 comments I hope Sookie and Eric end up together.
I am hooked on True Blood. It is different from the books but still great!

I love the show! It is a lot more graphic than I expected for a tv show. It is different from the books, but most people say that it doesnt irritate them...I think you'd like it.
I don't subscribe to showtime either. You can download the episodes from some websites, but you have to pay. The first season I just got online, and a video store. :)

message 7: by Melissa (new)

Melissa I've seen on dvd Six Feet Under, Weeds, and Dexter so I'm assuming True Blood would be along those lines when it came to the sex and language. Guess I'll have to try it from netflix. You've talked me into it!

gina~* | 39 comments I love Eric and Sam.. Hate Bill..

True blood is good but not great in my opinion. If I didn't love the series as much I would hate the show I would have to say.. I don't have HBO but i bought season 1.. I hope season 2 is more promising.

message 9: by Yz the Whyz (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 17 comments I listened to this series and the narrator is awesome. I've only listened to the first 4 books so far.

I'm also watching the TV show, and now with the 2nd season and with some details deviating from the book plotline, have decided to just enjoy the show and stop comparing it to the books.

message 10: by Terri (new)

Terri (terrilovescrows) | 188 comments As the series progresses, I dislike Bill more.

message 11: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 244 comments I finished the third book Club Dead I have to tell you I was really considering calling it a quits with this series. I really don't like Bill at all. Every one wanting to get with Sookie was also getting on my nerves. When the possiblity came that Bill will not be her BF any more I got excited so now I am going to continue the series.
As far as the show goes.... I don't know I watched the first season and was kinda dissappointed. I really hate Bill in the show thats for sure. Um wasn't crazy about Sam either. My joy of the show I would say is all Eric.... love him.

I think that they are going to make Eric a bigger player in the show now...:)

message 13: by Teryl (new)

Teryl I was introduced to this series via True Blood, which I love. I have only listened to the first book and I didn't really care for it all that much so I will probably coninue this series through the tv show.

When I first started reading these books I HATED Bill. Even before I knew he was a jerk. I don't like Quinn either but alot of people do though.. It'll be cool to see who they pick to play quinn on the show.

It could be just me but does anyone see the similiarites to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum Novels in the Sookie books? I thought vampire books were totally ridiculous until I started Dead Until Dark and realized that all the other romance books out there are just as far fetched so why not? I love the vamps now.

I haven't gotten very far into the Sookie Stackhouse series, but I definitely see the similarities to Stephanie Plum. In fact, someone told me I would really like this series because the author's writing is similar to Janet Evanovich!

I rented True Blood for the first time this past weekend and can I just say WOW?! I wasn't expecting nudity or the major sex scenes I saw in the first 2 episodes. That'll teach me to read the DVD covers first! Especially when my teenage daughter is in the room. I had to shut it off and watch it later!

LOL. The first time I watched True Blood, I was sitting on a couch with my husband and my Dad. LOL I had to turn it off! My face was so beat red, and my Dad thought it was so funny that I didn't realize how graphic the show would be. LOL Embarrassing, yet funny!

I watched the fingerpop episode of True Blood and laughed so hard I almost peed my pants, figurtively speaking, so am wanting to read it, it's on order from library.

What is the fingerpop episode?

Chrissy315 Jones | 17 comments I just finished Dead and Gone last night. I am truly a Eric fan. But Bill really came to Sookie's rescue. Even though I think Eric is great I think Sookie will end up with Bill in the end.

I've been watching the show, but I just started reading the actual series yesterday! I'm listening to the audiobook. :)

message 22: by Tammy (new)

Tammy (tammymerlot) Oh awesome! Netflix just shipped episodes 3 and 4 to me today. =)

message 23: by gina~* (new)

gina~* | 39 comments Its HBO... I would be disapointed if it wasn't graphic.. I like the show becuase it's based on a series I enjoy but I think that the most of the acting is sub-par and I don't think ann paquinn is a proper sookie. Just my opinion though I know it can't be exactly how I see it or even exactly like the book. I dono im hoping that season 2 will change my mind....

message 24: by Literary Lusts (last edited Jul 15, 2009 09:53PM) (new)

Literary Lusts (literarylusts) I like True Blood, but I love the books. I read all of them years ago and got hooked. I mostly just watch the show for Eric though. He's got to be one of my all time favorite characters ever. I'm especially looking forward to this second season since I know Eric plays a much bigger role in it. I'm just crossing my fingers that the series at least does well enough to get into book four. Cause if you've read that book you knooooooow what I'm talking about. Yum Yum

message 25: by Anne (new)

Anne I'm not sure what I think about Trueblood, yet. I don't have HBO and I've only seen the 1st 4 episodes(courteousy of Blockbuster online). I knew it wasn't going to be exactly like the book, but I wasn't expecting all of the changes! Does anyone think Bill looks a little grubby? Eric is not how I imagined him, either. I know...I'm being way too picky!

message 26: by Lizz (new)

Lizz | 8 comments i ABSOLUTELY love the hbo series...ive been watching it religiously since the first season, with my dad wich is a little awkward since it is a little graphic. i havnt read the books so its a shock that ERIC is going to be with sookie? and bill is such an ass in the books? very weird because in the show he is like her saving grace and yes, anne i agree with you, i think they casted the wrong bill for the show.

Yes, in the books it is a shocker when Bill turns out to be a butt. Eric starts growing on you after the second book. Before you know it, you're totally in love with Eric and hoping Bill falls into a crack somewhere. Ok. Not really. But Bill is a distant second to Eric! LOL! Sorry to all the Bill fans of the HBO series, but he seems so much more clean cut to me in the books. I just wanted to hold him down and give him a shower and a shave by the 4th episode! I'm sure some of you out there will hate me for saying that. Again, sorry.

I have to say that the little bit I have read so far...I agree that they should have casted Bill differently for the show...

message 29: by Anne (new)

Anne Maybe not a different guy, but a different look. I don't think Bill was ever scruffy in the books. I think the show captured Sookie and Jason very well.

I don't like the Bill in the show at all...IDK why, he just bothers me... :(

message 31: by Anne (new)

Anne I'm still slowly watching episodes of season 1. Right now I'm waiting for Blockbuster to ship me Disc 4. I haven't seen much of Eric, yet. I'm not crazy about his hair. It kind of looks like a wig to me. Maybe not a wig so much as PTA hair. You know, that shoulder length bob that most moms on the PTA have? Well, I guess most of the PTA moms have the "angry beaver" haircut like Kate, from Jon & Kate Plus 8, now. I'm rambling, sorry.
