What is your New Year's Resolution?

Mine is to exercise more. It's just open-ended enough that I should be able to do it.

message 3: by Martha (new)

Martha Well, I am trying another diet right now, and I feel like someone who is trying to quit smoking - I'm pacing the kitchen and can't stop think of food!

I stopped dieting for that reason - I ended up eating way more. I wish I had a fast metabolism, that would be so great. I just eat a little of whatever I want and my weight has stayed about the same.

message 5: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) I have dieting issues as well. I was on my way to losing weight, via exercising, then I got sick, and my weight diminished even more, but I lost the habit of exercising. I'll have to start all over again, mentally speaking.

My resolution for books is to read , on purpose, bigger books than I usually do. Without these chunksters, the 250-300 page cozies don't feel that special. The minimum target for me this year is 50 books. I aim to read 2 big books a month, each taking 10 days then the remaining 10 days I'll reserve for 3 cozy mysteries. Hence 5 books per month and about 50 books this year. That's the plan anyway.

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) Thanks!

message 8: by Erin (new)

Erin (ems84) Just to stay healthy and active this year. It seems every year I either come down with a bad cold/stomach flu/etc or I get a diagnosis of something, last year it was arthritis in my shoulder. I am exercising more and cutting back on food and making sure to get a flu shot every year, these were things I never thought much about in the past.

In the past two years I have lost 20 pounds thanks to me also being lactose intolerant so I can't eat much dairy anymore and I have been exercising regularly for the last year so I hope this all pays off.

Good resolution Deni

FYI it's the 15th and I've exercised 0 times [taking a bow]

Abeer. (heartsmile) | 24 comments For me:
I want to pass my "Intern year" with a high marks and to be better in my work. - that's for my work side.

For my own live, I want to be more healthier and start to have a regular exercise on a daily base.

I wish I will be able to achieve it in 2015.

message 13: by Luffy Sempai (new)

Luffy Sempai (luffy79) More than one year later and I still have weight issues and my intent to read big books is still a barely touched project. But I'm getting there with the latter issue. I have devised a simple exercise routine that is helping me shed the excess fat. I just need to get back to business and stick to my resolutions. Next year when I'll get to this thread, it will be as a fit and thin person who has, haphazardly speaking, been reading big books to boot.

message 14: by Judy (new)

Judy Nappa (jlnn) I want to eat better, rest more, exercise more and, of course, read more books!

This is year two (or twenty really) of more exercise this year. Again, haven't started yet. We're going on vacation next week so I've made the excuse I'll exercise on the 19th. We'll see :)

Geetanjali | 3 comments I used to read a book a day before marriage. Stopped reading once i got married, had kids, job etc., etc.,
Reading 3 books a year had become difficult till last year.

So, I made a resolution this year to read atleast 50 books. I am already 1 book behind schedule. Hope I will atleast reach half way this year

Elizabeth My Reading Goals for 2016My Reading Goals for 2016

#1 goal is just have fun reading ,( because last year even though I read a lot I started to not enjoy it from the mid of October to December, so this year I'm only doing 3 Goodread Challenge and making some changes..And they are my goals which are

2: Read 50 books ( maybe more) ( this way I won't feel like I got to read to keep ahead of my Goodreads goal, and I can read at my own paste, and enjoy it wither it's a huge book or a some one, spend time doing stuff with my family, watching old. Black and white movies ( 20s,30s,40s,50s, and 60s type movies) and play with my puppies.

3: Finish or trying to finish my 3 Goodread Challenges which are The Life of The Book Addict 12 + 4 Alternatives, Around The Year in 52 Books, and Choose Your Own Challenge

4:Wither or not I cut down my Kindle,Nook,Apple IBOOKS,Bookshout ,or paper or hardback book TBR ,I'm not going to worry about it, because this year it's all about Enjoy Reading and not how many books is on my TBR.

5:Finish my 2 DNF Nook Books TBR ( not going to worry about how long this take

✔️6:Reread one of my all time favorite Stephen King Books.

7:Read more lard books with pages over 800 and up( basically I love read the big books with pages over 800 and up ,like the Stand by Stephen King which is 1,141 pages ,last year was the first year I got back into read and I only read 3 big books ,this time I want to enjoy doing it and not have to worry)

8:Read more of my all time favorite series.

9:Read More Classic novels.(Classical Literature is one of my all time favorite book to read ,so this year I want to get back in to doing that by doing Rereads of ones I've read a long time ago and also read ones I've been afraid to do so like Les Misérables.

10:Finishing DNF Kindle books that I've started and kept

11:Finish,start or get caught up in series, duology, trilogy or saga that I have all the books to.( even if I finish,or get caught up in a series I'll be happy)

12:Read more short stories:

13:Start New series that I have a few books in.( even if I just read the first book then I'm happy)

✔️14:star listening to audio books ( even if it's just free classics that I love to reread over or over)

15:Read books by authors that I should have read by now

I love audiobooks Elizabeth. They're free downloads at most libraries (where I get the majority of my audiobooks).
