Roberta (rolysj) | 77 comments I'm starting at the beginning of the year this time. Let's see how many I read!

message 2: by Roberta (new)

Roberta (rolysj) | 77 comments 1. Knitting Rules - another great book by the yarn harlot, Stephanie Pearl McPhee. If you've read any of her others, this one is more of a technique book rather than a collection of her blogs.

Roberta (rolysj) | 77 comments 2. The Rescue by Anita Shreve (audio book) It was good. It's about a young man who falls in love with a woman who is an alcoholic. She gets pregnant, they get married, etc.

This year I want to keep track of how many audio books I listen to vs. how many print books I read.

message 4: by Roberta (new)

Roberta (rolysj) | 77 comments 3. Mystery Mile by Margery Allingham (audio) Okay - I liked it. This was Albert Campion's 2nd appearance. I'm going to try and read the first one.

Roberta (rolysj) | 77 comments 5. Small Miracles of the Holocaust - Woohoo! I'm already up to # 5 and it's only Jan. 14, 2014. I like reading books about the Holocaust.

message 6: by Roberta (new)

Roberta (rolysj) | 77 comments Oops. Make that #4.

message 7: by Roberta (new)

Roberta (rolysj) | 77 comments Can anyone recommend any other books about the Holocaust? I've read most of the well-known ones: Schindler's List, Diary of Anne Frank, Sarah's Key. For some reason I find myself very drawn to this subject. Thanks for any suggestions.

Powder River Rose (powderriverrose) | 116 comments Roberta, have you read "the painted bird" by Jerzy Kozinski? My suggestion would be to get the audio version from your library if possible. The narration is in my opinion what really brings the story into life; it's slower paced but very well done and deeply moves the heart and soul.

message 9: by Amy (new)

Amy | 181 comments Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum is excellent! Those Who Save Us by Jenna Blum

message 10: by Roberta (new)

A couple weeks ago I finished The Lost Wife. I don't have the author in front of me and I haven't reviewed it yet, but trust me when I say, you'll definitely want a Kleenex box with you when you read it.

Juli
