First book of 2014

I finished off the year with Ed Kurtz's remarkable novella, A Wind Of Knives. Starting off the year, I've got two on the go. In paperback, I've got Ian Rankin's The Black Book. On audiobook, I've got Stephen R. Donaldson's first book of the final Covenant series, The Runes of the Earth.
Glad to hear The Steel Seraglio is good. That's on my list for this year, as well as The n-Body Problem.

I always love a good story about powerful women who can kick ass. It's got a lot of action, and despite its length I finished it pretty quickly. I definitely recommend it.
THE n-BODY PROBLEM is delightfully messed up. I mean really messed up. I'll be honest, I'm not into zombies all that much. I feel like it's the same thing over and over. But THE n-BODY PROBLEM is different. It's not the dead that are completely fucked up and destroying everything, it's the living.

That's the only reason I picked up the n-Body novel. I was told by Brett that it was messed up and very cool after I told him I actually hate zombies. I really do, aside from the Walking Dead comics.

It's true, Jeff. That's what I tell people when they buy our books, especially THE SUMMER IS ENDED. First book I ever came across that came with a barf bag.
I agree, Peter. This one is his best so far.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday full of good times and good wine...or whatever beverages you prefer.
What's the first book of 2014 that you're reading, and what was your last of 2013?
I ended off 2013 with the Carey's THE STEEL SERAGLIO. Not sure why I had my reservations about this book, it was a great read. My first book of 2014 was the 4th volume of Neil Gaiman's THE SANDMAN series. Now onto the 5th...graphic novels are always such a quick afternoon read.
