Just to recap, is this what you remember about the book?

- Read book around early 2007; it might not have been new
- Mother is a nurse working at a hospital when the accident happens
- Daughter who dies is about two years old and is inside the house alone
- Father is with the other two children in the yard when the accident happens
- Around the middle of the book it's revealed the daughter was accidentally strangled with a cord from a window blind
- Father discovers the daughter, he takes the daughter to the hospital emergency, everyone blames themselves, couple divorces then gets back together by the time the remaining two children are adults
- By the end of the book, the husband owns or runs a book store or coffee shop

Points of Light by Linda Gray Sexton - Steph's suggestion

bookworm | 92 comments I believe this description was a mash up of two books. The first one being "coming home" by jean brashear. I have removed the details of that book from the description and reposted description below.

I first read this book in late 2006 early 2007 and don't think it was new then. It was about a married couple who has three young children and somehow one of them dies. It seems to me that it was an accident in the yard or house. A parent or female relative worked at the hospital and was on duty when the child was brought in. The couple divorces. Later when the children are grown the couple reunites. the couple reunited it was during the Christmas season.

bookworm | 92 comments I think this is a mix of a book called "Coming Home" by Jean Brasher and something else.

Do you want to call this Solved then?

Coming Home

bookworm | 92 comments I think no, there is also a book with a child being strangled in blind cords. I will have to revamp the description of the book. Do you recommend using a comment, editing original description, or starting a new thread?

I was going to suggest rebooting the thread, rewriting your original description (so that we could keep all the book suggestions), but I think that might just be more confusing.

So I'll close this thread and you can start a new thread. Either you or a mod can insert a link to this thread just so people know what's going on.

If people have made suggestions in this thread which could apply to the book you're now looking for, but are not that book, you can make a list of these "ruled out books" in the new thread.

Once you've started a new thread we'll link to it here and then close this thread.

One thread per request, please. Deleted the duplicate thread in which you said:

"Read book around early 2007; it might not have been new

- Daughter who dies is about two years old and is inside the house alone
- Father is with the other two children in the yard when the accident happens

Bookworm, I reviewed this long thread (thanks for the heads up, SamSpayedPI). It sounds like you had two books in mind, so I'll close this one and mark it as Solved to avoid confusion. The solution was Coming Home by Jean Brashear.

Sorry but can you please re-create a thread with only the details of the second book?

Bookworm, can you please clarify - in "Coming Home," the Harlequin which was the solution to this thread, is a child strangled by a blind cord?

Lobstergirl wrote: "Bookworm, can you please clarify - in "Coming Home," the Harlequin which was the solution to this thread, is a child strangled by a blind cord?"

The answer is no.

I rewrote the header, removing the part about a child being strangled by a blind cord, since that did not happen in this book.
