Morgan Thompson-smith | 5 comments Hi, all! I'm new to goodreads and this is my first book group. I'm very excited to get to know everyone and have some fun reading along the way.

A little about me: As you may have guessed from my topic subject, my name is Morgan. My husband and I welcomed twin boys, Cody and Ryndon, into our lives on November 8, 2013. They are amazing and it's been such a wonderful, but exhausting lol, time for us.

I am a senior veterinary student and I'll be going back to school full time at the beginning of February. After 4 long years of undergraduate studies and 4 even longer years of vet school, I'll receive my DVM in August and I can't wait! Unfortunately, being a full time mom on top of being a full time student and studying for my national board exam, I won't have as much time to dedicate to pleasure reading as I would like. I joined this group because one of my new year's resolutions is to make sure to take a few minutes everyday for myself and I'm going to use this challenge to keep myself on track. I tend to put myself and my needs on the back burner, so I need someone to keep me honest :)

I have always loved reading. I love all sorts of genres, but I tend to gravitate towards crime/mystery/thriller type novels and science fiction. I'm not a huge fan of romance, but I'll try any highly recommended book regardless of genre. I am setting a goal of 50 books over the course of the year. It's not as many as I would like or I'm used to, but hey...it's a start and manageable (I hope lol).

If you have any book recommendations, I'd love to hear them! Happy reading, everyone! :)

Jodi (readinbooks) | 1971 comments Welcome to the group Morgan! I am a big Odd Thomas fan. How did you like it?

Morgan Thompson-smith | 5 comments Hi, Jodi! Well, I started off not liking it as much as I thought I would. It was slow going and I found Odd's narrative style a little disjointed, but! Then I kept reading. I think it was very clever how Koontz used that style of writing to further character development. Once I was about half way through, I couldn't put it down. I ended up liking it very much. I have a few books on my "to-read" list ahead of the next book in the series, but I look forward to reading it. Which of the Odd Thomas books is your favorite? Do you recommend other Dean Koontz novels? Thanks for stopping by!

Morgan Thompson-smith | 5 comments Book 2 of 50-Done! Narcissus in Chains by Laurell K. Hamilton

I confess I started reading this book right before Christmas, grew tired of it, and I just finished it last night. So even if I didn't technically read it all in 2014, but I finished it in 2014 so that counts...riiiight? ;)

I have only read the first four books of Odd Thomas. I am not sure which was my favourite because I read them so long ago. I have two more of the Odd Thomas books to read. Hopefully I will get to them this year.

I love Dean Koontz. A few of my favourites are From the Corner of His Eye by Dean Koontz and Intensity by Dean Koontz . They are creepier than Odd Thomas. I have read three books of his Frankenstein series Prodigal Son (Dean Koontz's Frankenstein, #1) by Dean Koontz and I enjoy his take on Frankenstein. It makes me want to see what the original book was like.
