Goodreads Sci-Fi/Fantasy Authors discussion

Hi, I'm Vlad and I get 17 in three months. I had an idea for a book just a week ago and I'm already at chapter 2^^. It'll be in german first but I'll try to translate it into english later. Btw I live in Germany^^. I hope to get many tipps for writing a good book from here^^.

Good for you. Keep plugging away. Try to set aside at least two hours a day for your writing. However, when you finish, I would submit to a German publisher. Your English is not good enough for you to translate it yourself. For example, you said, "I get 17 ..." Not good English. It should be "I will be 17 ..."

Guten Tag Vlad. Your English is better than my German! Meine erste sprache var Deutsch. But I'm working in English now. I had an American publisher yell at me for using an unlaut in a made up name.

Congratulations on writing 2 chapters! Most people don't even get that far with their good ideas. And I wish I had kept writing since I was 17, rather than putting it aside and picking it back up 15 years later.

There are lots of good books on writing. I've heard that Stephen King's On Writing is good, but I haven't gotten to that one yet. Here are two others that I like and enjoyed:
