Listening to the audio book is a totally difference experience, especially for "visual learners." I recommend listening to get an overview of the passage and to follow the party conversations. I listen 2X the speed, as I take my walks.
I joined Audible, received one free book (Swann), then for the next six months (paying the monthly fee-about $17) got a free credit. I used that credit to "buy" the other volumes and saved a lot of money.
I have them downloaded also on my iPad and iPhone. Marcel is my constant companion.
After I had all seven, I "quit" Audible.
Hope this helps.
If anyone is interested, I'd downloaded the free version of Swann's Way from Amazon and because I owned a Kindle copy of the book, audible gives me a deal ($2.99) on the audio version of the book. Since they're whispersynch ready, I'm guessing that the audio is from the Scott-Moncrief translation though I didn't see anything specifying.
I'm unsure if this will work for subsequent volumes...
