It's our first episode after New Year's and we're still recovering. Thank goodness Neil Gaiman, the Wertzone and Stephen Chow are here to perk us up. Plus we kick off our January book, The Einstein Intersection by Samuel R. Delany.

Kristina | 588 comments you guys are missing myke cole's new book Breach Zone in the calendar on the 28th. I picked up the first 2 after his interview and they are soo fun! I have the new one pre-ordered because I don't want to wait for the library to get around to getting it.

So I can't tell. Is Veronica a Doctor Who fan now? It mostly sounded like she watched a bunch of Doctor Who out of sense of obligation...

Yes! I forgot to mention that part. I love it! I was dumb for not watching it for so long.

Not at the moment. We were supposed to switch to BBs ad network, but it didn't work out. We're hoping Podtrac will take us back so we can make some money from the ads again :/

Cool. So who is your favorite Doctor then?

message 12: by Serendi (new)

Serendi | 848 comments Hi - said this before, but you must have missed it. Modesitt is not pronounced the way Tom pronounces it.

Here's a link; I think it might be his voice, not sure:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9k_Vi...

Also, from his website:

How do you pronounce your name?
It’s pronounced MODD-ess-it, where “Modd” rhymes with “odd.” The pronunciation breaks a number of rules, but it wasn’t my decision, obviously.

terpkristin | 4407 comments HAHAHAHA.

Funny related-ish story, I just listened to the first episode of the rebooted Current Geek podcast, and everytime they'd mention Terpster (spelled wrong I'm sure), I would get confused as to why they were talking about me...for JUST a second.

Anyway, great show, as always, and NOT JUST because I came up multiple times (and a repeat time!). I've started The Einstein Intersection but am not sold on it quite yet (about 1/3 through). But I'm looking forward to hearing what February's pick is. :D

Edit: SWEET! That pick has been in my to-read queue FOREVER. I've had a copy of it in print for at least 10 years. I tried the audiobook and it didn't work well for me, but this means I can read the book...IN PAPER FORM *gasp*

Tamahome | 7225 comments What's feb's pick? I must have mssed hearing it.

It's on the front page for the upcoming read.

That book is required reading for geeks, isn't it? I've never read it, and have always felt guilt for the oversight.

Tamahome | 7225 comments Just don't watch the Syfy adaption...

library_jim | 212 comments Just noticed the Earthsea book is $6.69 on Kindle but only $3.60 in paperback for some reason. Just thought I'd mention it.

Interesting! I read (well listened to the audiobook) over the summer this past year. I really enjoyed it. Ged is a great character and the world itself felt quite unique. Hope the rest of you enjoy it. It's one of those series where I definitely plan to read further on in the series. Which is somewhat rare in older fantasy books for me (i.e. I hated Wizard's First Rule & The Sword of Shannara). I'm just getting around to catching up with Ancillary Justice (library took a while to get the book to me), and I don't know when I'll be able to get around to The Einstein Intersection.

Camilla (repressedpauper) It was a great show! I'm so glad you guys have a flipboard magazine now (especially as a Blackberry user!). It makes reading the Quick Burns much easier.
