I've just - finally - added all the books on my to-be-read shelf to GoodReads. Surprisingly, it's not as bad as I thought --- just under 50 books! This is probably because I have been 99% successful in avoiding book stores in the last few months. How many unread books do you have on your shelves?

Here's my TBR pile:

(I haven't put them in the order I plan to read them yet - probably won't, because I always change my mind.)

PS If you haven't yet, I really recommend doing this too and adding all your unread books to the system. It's strangely liberating :) and also a good way to keep track of things.

Jon (jonmoss) Books to be read that I actually have on hand total 153.

Those I've mooched: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...

And those I've acquired: http://www.goodreads.com/review/list/...

My to-read shelf has almost one hundred on it (98 to be exact) and I check it weekly before I hit the garage sale and used book store circuit in my home town.

I'm averaging about ten books a month so I've got a couple of years worth of reading ready to go.

How do I pick the next book? Well, book club selections come first, then I sort my mooched and own-but-unread shelves by average rating or number of ratings to pick out the next month's reading. Finally, I create an event for myself to list the reading for the current month and the next month.

Ken (ogi8745) | 1432 comments I am slowly putting books on my shelf. Right now about 100 book are TBR, but thats just a drop in the bucket. I estimate around 1000 books waiting to be read. I am turning 42 and the end of July. I doubt I will be able to read them all before I turn 84.
I keep buying them though.
I average around 2 or 3 books a month. Sometimes more sometimes less.

Sandi (sandikal) | 338 comments I keep two sub-shelves of my to-read shelf. I have a shelf of own-unread and a wish list for books I don't have but sound interesting. My own-unread list has 31 books.

Kerry (rocalisa) | 487 comments Mine is currently sitting at 40 - but that's books I actively plan to read fairly soon. I hate to think what the total of unread books is and refuse to work it out.

Kelly (sisimka) My TBR shelf is at 179 books. I haven't added them all to GR yet. That total also does not include any ebooks I have on my kindle (about 10 unread) or my laptop (another 15?). I plan to reduce my TBR shelf this summer by reading and sorting - the stacks of books are overwhelming!

In my "real" library at my house, I have over 1500 books that I have not read. Some of those I don't plan to read (they are more my husband's taste) but most I do plan to read. And yes, I keep buying...

My GoodReads shelf has books I've read or am currently reading, and that's it. As I read, I add.

Christine (chrisarrow) I have been told by certain family members to use my to-read shelf as my to-want shelf, so that's what I do.
