Chloe (countessofblooms) | 2 comments Hello all, I'm new to this group so if this is a repeat of an issue that has been previously addressed, please forgive me.

I was looking to add a book to my shelf today and went looking for Colm Tóibín's The Master. Typing in his name with a regular American keyboard took me here:
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

Rather than to the author page of the actual author, which can be found here:
http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/...

I was wondering if there were a way to combine these two authors so that those who do not notice/know how to type accent marks are not mistakenly led to the wrong page? This may be more of an issue for tech support, I don't know, but I figured I'd try my luck here before heading over to the Feedback group.

Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Thanks. I've merged both to the accented (correct) spellings.

Hopefully the aka feature will be available before too much longer!

Is that wishful thinking or do you know something you're not telling? :-)

Cynthia Armistead Newman (technomom) | 159 comments I think it may be more of a prayer at this point!

Petra X (petra-x) I merge to the spelling with the most books. I don't like doing this when I feel it is incorrect, but since the purpose of having a correct database is to improve the usefulness of the database to Goodreads members, it seems a bit prissy to insist on the minority spelling. An aka feature would really solve that problem.

Pretty much. My understanding is that while it is on the list, it is difficult to accomplish.
