3. All snowflakes have six sides. Read a book with the number 6 in its page number. (For example, The Golem and the Jinni has 486 pages.)

Cushman, Karen. Will Sparrow's Road. Has 216 pgs. Done 2/Jan/14

Thoughts: Author Karen Cushman is a Newbery Medalist for The Midwife's Apprentice. Good book! Story line is not complicated and the reading is easy.

Will Sparrow, not yet thirteen, who runs away from home must provide and care for his own needs. Setting is Elizabethan market fairs, England 1599.

12. The Snake. Snakes work hard but tend to be easily bored. To prevent boredom, read a short book (i.e., one with fewer than 100 pages).

Sarah, Plain and Tall by Patricia Maclachlan 58 pages.

This book won the 1986 Newbery Medal, the 1986 Scott O'Dell Award for Historical Fiction and the 1986 Golden Kite Award. Setting: 19th century, Western United States. Sarah, Plain and Tall is the first book in a series of 5. The first three books were made into movies and the main story line of the five books was turned into a screen play. Jacob, a widower is raising two children and making a homestead on the prairie. He places an ad for a wife and mother. The ad is answered. What follows next is a delightful story.
