I hate when you finish a great series. kind of depressing.
Marjory , I agree but I can't think of our "funny words" lol. I know we have a language of our own don't we

So I am very interested to see what I think of this one now ive seen your comments Megan and Marjory. Ive only read one Tim Winton but last night started his Dirt Music. Cloudstreets been on my shelf for ages.

Marjory (marmbrust) | 208 comments I have dirt music here to, but not ready to start it. I need a break from his style of writing. Although, by the end of cloudstreet I did give it 4 starts.

exactly Marjory, I liked it but it wasn't a classic. not like picnic at hanging rock.
I think I was more disappointed because of all the hype about it. but I did like the book

Picnic at Hanging Rock? Is that an Australian classic? Never heard of it, I'll go check it out. Thanks Megan.

its an oldie, its one pretty much everyone has to read at school. I have never read it but have seen the movie. I've actually been to hanging rock as well. I definitely reccomend "Matthew Flinders Cat" by Bryce Courtenay. its big and can be a not tough going but one of my absolute favs. its set more recently, or even "the story of danny dunn" by the same author.

I'm due to pick this up from the library this week Marjory. I'm looking forward to reading it as I've just recently seen the movie :)

Marjory (marmbrust) | 208 comments I didn't realize it was a movie. I will have to see it when I'm done. I like to read the book before the movie. I'm really enjoying it, the character development is wonderful.

if I read a book then see the movie I usually feel disappointed with the movie. but I hate doing it the other way. I usually decide if I want to read it or watch it. I will rarely do both

If I really like the book, I will see the movie and then criticize it the whole way through. Don't ask me why, its just something weird that I do. But I do get really excited if they do it right. I think I just want to see who it is that portrays the characters and how they do it.

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) I LOVED the Book Thief! But I haven't seen the movie yet. I'm not sure I want to...I take it so personally if a movie doesn't live up to my standards. Haha.

MaryKatherine (opheliaellie131) I finished Outlander and I'm now in the middle of The Gendarme. I'm learning a lot about the Armenian genocide during WWI. It's sad but very interesting.

A first it's hard to get used to the writing style, but then you find you can't put it down.

I agree about the writing style. In fact, I've talked to a few people who couldn't get past it and didn't want to continue reading it. It's definitely something different, but I thought it was so worth it.

Definately, it took me three tries before I finally read it. It's been in my stack for a couple of years.
