Mari had dreams of college being a fresh start, one where she would start over and not fall for the good looking player like high school. But he doesn’t plan to make it easy for her. Seth has already marked her as his next conquest. As the semester progresses, Mari learns that Seth might just have a past of his own that’s literally in the past. Suddenly Mari finds her future along with her past put into question. What a great book, the best book I have read in a while. The whole thing was good - it was well written, gripping, unusual and had far, far fewer editing errors than most books. I couldn't put it down. I have said in the review but just in case you don't read it BEWARE the warning at the end :-) It says 'READ AT YOUR OWN RISK'and it's no joke, it ends with a cliffhanger to the next book that isn't out until Summer 2014. I really need it NOW as I can't wait to read more.

Great book!!!! This story is a sweet YA college romance. At first I wasn't sure what to except, but in all it was a nice surprise. The story was fast paced and was entertaining the entire way through. It's plot developed well as well as the characters. Loved how it was realistic by using multicultural characters. I loved Mari's intelligence, admired how she was able to manipulate the rules. The story had many interesting twists.....There were secrets about the characters that I never saw coming, and that kept me drawn in, wanting to find out more. I really enjoyed the story and the ending has me curious to see what's coming up next in book 2. I'm definitely looking forward to that.
Can wait for the sequel?
Carnelian was a wonderful read. I really liked this book, from the romance to the secrets.
