C.F. Waller Would love to exchange books/swap reviews/ with other self published authors. A new year starts and it's always hard to get enough reviews on Amazon for your project. 100 sales and 1 review . . . ughhh . . buzz me here or email ([email protected]) if your interested.

100 sales is an ok start to the new year! I'm sorry I can't do a review swap, I took a quick look at the sample pages and it's just not my kind of story. Maybe a little research on modern guns might be good, perhaps release the safety rather than cock the hammer? It's easy to change something and relist on kindle.
Good luck and I hope you get more reviews.

Iscah Iscah | 13 comments Review swaps create a conflict of interest, best to avoid them.

Gobs of lovely reviewers out there who don't insist on swaps. Try these lists instead:

Mikki Sadil | 2 comments These all seem to be for and about self-publishing. I'm not self-published, so are there other web sites for book reviews by traditionally published books?

message 8: by Iscah (new)

Iscah Iscah | 13 comments Mikki, most of the reviewers listed are friendly to traditionally published books too. Indie includes self-published, but also any publisher that isn't the "big six". But while these lists were made to help Indie authors, the blogs they link to are all independent.

You may want to coordinated with your publisher and see if they sent out any review copies for you. Large and medium volume publishers may use sites like NetGalley, which aren't cost effective for smaller publishers.

Ideally you send out review copies, 3-4 month before publication, but live and learn.

Sherrie Miranda (sherriemiranda) | 75 comments Iscah, someone told me yesterday that it is now the "big five." That one more publishing company got bought up by one of the others.
Can anyone confirm this?

message 10: by Iscah (new)

Iscah Iscah | 13 comments Sherrie, I think you're correct. I forget who merged with who. There are some midsized publishers like Tor who I'd still consider traditional publishers but aren't the biggest ones.

There's a lost of small publishers popping up right now and small to midsized ones that are 20-30 years old, so there's some overlap between traditional and Indie.

Mikki Sadil | 2 comments Random House bought out Penguin...it is now Penguin Random House. And Penguin in turn has acquired Author Solutions, the scummiest of all the scummy vanity publishers, and all of Author Solutions' equally scummy subsideries, like Author House, Xlibris, and several others. I for one will never try to sell one of my books to Penguin Random House...they have done nothing to clean up these horrible vanity presses, and obviously don't intend to. In my opinion, this major publisher is now no better than the scum bag vanity presses it runs.
