Matthew | 11 comments While, the speculative fiction trope of taking a person from our world and transporting them to another is almost as old as science fiction itself, I thought it might be fun to list what people thought were the best and worst of this genre. Mine would be the following:

Best
-The Fionavar Tapestry
-The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
-The Phantom Tollbooth
-The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
-The Dark Tower Series Collection: The Gunslinger, The Drawing of the Three, The Waste Lands, Wizard and Glass, Wolves of the Calla, Song of Susannah, The Dark Tower

Worst
-The Sleeping Dragon
-Tarnsman of Gor
-The Dark is Rising
-A Princess of Mars

Chris Haught (haughtc) | 889 comments I'd want to throw Lord Foul's Bane and its series on that worst list...

Matthew | 11 comments Yeah I had debated throwing in the Lord Foul's Bane under my worst section as Thomas is such an unlikeable character, but as that is kind of the point of the book and because it is well written I decided to let it slide. I also debated putting The Left Hand of Darkness in my worst list but I wasn't sure if it really fit the topic.
