For February, we have chosen to discuss one of our favorite romances. We will be choosing some books form our "romance bookshelf" but also wanted to add some of your favorite choices. Please nominate your favorite. No self-nominations please.

message 2: by Roz (new)

Roz Carter (rozcar) | 5 comments The Time Traveler's Wife (Special Edition) by Audrey Niffenegger This is one of my favorite love stories of all time. I find the story so moving, I can feel my heart breaking/expanding every time I read it.

message 3: by Kathy (new)

Kathy Crouch | 1 comments Jessica Scott's Back to You is a military romance worthy of Valentine's Day. But so are others by her. But this book is one that draws the reader into the story and everyone can empathize if not sympathize with Trent and Laura Davilla.

message 4: by Susan (new)

Susan Keefe | 2 comments Bella....A French Life by Marilyn Z Tomlins an evocative love story set in Normandy France.

message 6: by Mirella (new)

Mirella Muffarotto (mirellamuffarotto) | 5 comments On the Island (On the Island, #1) by Tracey Garvis-Graves Love it! I couldn't put it down.

Natalie- Just write in your favorite romance book in this discussion thread. These will be added to some of the other romance books from our bookshelf, and our poll will be created for next month's book. Hope that helps.

message 14: by Boyko (new)

Boyko Ovcharov | 8 comments Melissa Foster's Have No Shame.

message 15: by Angela (new)

Angela Blount (perilous1) | 10 comments I'd like to nominate Song For Sophia (Rougemont, #1) by Moriah Densley by Moriah Densley. Best romance I read last year...and I don't particularly love historicals. >.> The savant Aspergian hero really got to me. Quite the gutsy and well crafty story. :)

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 30 comments One of my favorite romances is:

Wallbanger (Cocktail, #1) by Alice Clayton

Isi Roz wrote: "The Time Traveler's Wife (Special Edition) by Audrey Niffenegger This is one of my favorite love stories of all time. I find the story so moving, I can feel my heart breaking/expanding every time I read it."

I agree this is a great Romance. I enjoyed every page.

I also loved "The Notebook", by Nicholas Sparks. So moving.

message 18: by Eve (new)

Eve Gaal (thedesertrocks) | 7 comments I nominate The Governor's Son's by Maria McKenzie.

message 19: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (macjam47) | 5 comments My all time favorite romance is The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough. I know it is really a much older book, but perhaps there are some who have never read it.

message 20: by J.A. (new)

J.A. McLachlan (janeannmclachlan) | 6 comments I liked The Time Traveller's wife, but I have also just finished The Paris Wife - a beautiful story about Hemmingway's first wife, Hadley, told from her POV. Now I'm going to read A Moveable Feast - Hemmingway's account of his first marriage. It will be fascinating to compare the two books, and would make for a great discussion here, I think. As for romance -- At the end of A Moveable Feast, Hemmingway writes "I wish I had died before I loved anyone but Hadley"

message 21: by Jeremy (last edited Jan 17, 2014 01:51PM) (new)

Jeremy Glave | 1 comments No Greater Glory by Cindy Nord I nominate 'NO GREATER GLORY' by Cindy Nord. THIS is an epic Civil War historical romance on par with GWTW or North & South. An incredible love story, excellent historical detailing, and military insight into the eastern theatre of the war in Virginia. For nearly a full year, this book was the #1 Civil War Romance at Amazon. All the 5-star reviews were correct. I couldn't put this one down. ~ Jeremy Glave

Caroline Hayes (chayes0522) | 7 comments The Traitor's Emblem by Juan Gomez-Jurado. There is romance and mystery in this one. It's amazing.

I would like to nominate First Love by James Patterson. Can't wait to read it...should be incredible just like his other romantic novels. Wishing you all the very best! :)

message 27: by J.A. (new)

J.A. McLachlan (janeannmclachlan) | 6 comments So, since everyone has suggested a different book, how is the decision made?

message 28: by J.A. (new)

J.A. McLachlan (janeannmclachlan) | 6 comments I really enjoyed the movie, The Notebook - but then I read his book, The Lucky One. It is possibly the worst written book that's ever been published - full of cliché's and manipulative, gag-worthy sentimentality, the characters are cardboard clichés, the plot is totally predictable. The idea is cool, but the execution is terrible. I think we'd regret spoiling a good movie by subjecting ourselves to his writing.
