Blackbird | 1 comments Hi, I recently discovered that some of the quotes i added and marked as favorite are missing or changed into soemthing totally different. Thererofe, I removed them from favorites and added once again.

Now, two questions arise.

1 Are all quotes "by default" translated into English by other librarians? Cause the issue is with the quotes from Charles Baudelaite, the French poet. I always add quotes in Polish (Im Polish)and - if easy to find - in original version (French in this case). See the examples for Baudelaire and Gogol:
https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/1004...

https://www.goodreads.com/quotes/1947...

Now, I can see that some people want to translate everything into English, but when it comes to poetry, original is original and translation will always be only translation. It is all about rhymes, prosody, melody, play of words, etc. So, when I enter the quote in Polish and add original version for relation, I don't want someone to change it into English. I like Polish translation and French original, not English translation. If someone likes English version, he/she should add it separately, cause Polish and English translations are completely different stuff (not to mention that someone changed "my" quotes with TOTALLY different quotes from totally different poems - only the author was the same). What You think?

2 I see that there is no "like" button next to the quotes added by me. So I cant "like" the quotes added by myself??? I thought it used to be possible...

Librarians should not be merging quotes in other languages with the quote in English, but with the hordes of librarians we have (the vast majority of whom do good edits), it is possible some have mistakenly been combined. Please feel free to review the logs and flag for review any edits you believe may have been in error.

As far as liking quotes you have added, that is not something librarians have any control over. The Feedback Group is the place to ask about that. Here's a recent related thread: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
