Very true. Especially since you can use bed in place of mattress :)

message 108: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) I'll be looking when I get home.

Turtlecollector Dennis I am starting Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy tomorrow and will probably also be claiming frog and girl in red. Not sure about the person yet.

I am still finishing up 2 books today for January.

message 110: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ I think I have my book picked out - checking on a couple things with Dawn :)

Happy Friday all!!

message 111: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) I'll be reading The Pirate Next Door (Regency Pirates, #1) by Jennifer Ashley

And in addition to mattress and fire, I'll be claiming girl in red(cover), englishman (set in London) and bird.

message 112: by Dusty (new)

Dusty Just finished dinner. Going to start looking now.

message 113: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Ahhh!!! Dilemma - one book has unusual name, bird/wolf/bear, fairy/sister - the other one has fictional character, princess and rats. Which to pick???

message 114: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) I just finished a book and I swear on one page it had so many items! It was making me crazy.

All set to watch Captain Phillips with hubby. Hopefully no napping!

LOL - LMK if it is good - I so want to watch that one!! I want to watch The Butler too. Not sure when we will Redbox them?

message 116: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Ok I researched the Princess Leia a little more and I had to ask Dawn a question so we'll see what she says :)

Turtlecollector Dennis I am going to have limited acces through my phone for the next few days. I wil probably finish my book by Sun or early Mon, but I won't be posting a review until at least Tues night after I am home again. I am traveling to WA for my gpa's 90th birthday party, which coincidentally is also Superbowl Sunday, so huge family reunion/football party.

message 118: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Turtlecollector - have fun and safe travels!! Happy birthday to your Grandpa :D

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Happy Birthday to Grandpa!! Have a wonderful trip and enjoy your family.

I'm glad I didn't see this one in the movie theatre. It's really tense. But good! No dozing!!

Melissa if you have a book with fictional character, send me the name via PM, please. I'm not finding anything.

~Melissa~ question ladies - how are you searching in books for a fictional place??

message 125: by Dusty (new)

Dusty OK found my book Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, #1) by Karen Marie Moning
Has a bunch of words. Will decide later.

Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ (wolffaerie17) | 1469 comments Have great time Melissa!

I picked Up From the Grave (Night Huntress, #7) by Jeaniene Frost for my book. I'm waiting on Dawn to answer my two questions for two categories. Here's the rest of the list:Monsters, Mattress, and Fire.

Oh - fun!! Her Highlander series was yummy. I just finished the last of this series this month. Enjoy!!

message 128: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) I think I'm changing my book. I started Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare this morning and it had fictional character in it. So I will be claiming that and will let you know what else. I also found a book that has fictional place in it that I will keep in reserve.

Love that Highlander series, Dusty!!

message 129: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Morning - *whines* we got more snow - aaahhhhhh!!!

Anyway - still deciding on a book. Promise will finish my decision today and hopefully have most of it read by tomorrow whichever way I decide. Decided to keep Up From the Grave for later.

message 130: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H ~Melissa~ wrote: "question ladies - how are you searching in books for a fictional place??"

I'm just reading the book and hoping I come across something. That's why I'm worried if Mr. R calls it because I can't think of a way to search the book ahead of time.

message 131: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Well, that's kind of what I've done for those two categories/words. Now I have a book for girl in red as well if that gets called.
Seems to me it's better to have possibilities ready to read for the hard ones.

Angie ~aka Reading Machine~ (wolffaerie17) | 1469 comments Week Two:Mattress and Fire
Up From the Grave (Night Huntress, #7) by Jeaniene Frost by Jeaniene Frost
Finished:2/1/14
Rating:5 Stars
Review:An outstanding to a wonderful series. From the first book to final book Ms. Frost doesn't disappoint her fans. You have characters that you either love or hate from first meeting to last meeting. I will definitely keep Ms. Frost on my must read list.

Items Claimed
People~Englishman:
With a whoosh of frigid air, my husband Bones came inside. Page 12
Animals~Monsters:They were about to die at the hands and fangs of two merciless monsters. Page 119
Misc~Fictional Character:I might not have the dedication to spend hours applying makeup and prosthetic to resemble my favorite fictional character. Page 159
Props~Mattress:I barely noticed when Bones lifted me onto the bed, his body blanketing mine before my back hit the mattress. Page 57
Bonus~Fire:I threw my arms around him and squeezed my eyes shut, hoping the fire was so intense that this would be quick. Page 111

~Melissa~ WTG Angie!!

Finally settled on a book and I'm halfway through :)

It has: bear, wolf, monster
hunter, fairy (tooth)
unusual name

Enjoy Super Bowl Sunday! I'll be at hubby's sports bar *whispers* wishing I could be home reading :)
Not a huge football fan *ducking for cover* - I like the huddles though LOL. I'm more of a hockey/basketball girl....

message 134: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Wait, your husband owns a sports bar and you're not a sports fan!! Too funny. Can't you bring a book with you and sit on a bar stool?

I'm a huge sports fan and can't wait to see Peyton Manning win!! He's a good New Orleans boy.

message 135: by ~Melissa~ (new)

~Melissa~ Yep - hubby owns a sports bar. I just don't ♥ watching football. Now if it was the Blackhawks - I'd be all over it!!
I'll get grief from hubby if I read while the game is on. Granted I might so it anyway, lol. I'll bring my charged iPad :D Plus my sis is coming up with me and I'll have the kids there too. I like watching the commercials and the half time show. I'm such a girl sometimes.

message 136: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Awesome, Angie!

message 137: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Hubby and I agreed to serve at evening Mass, so we won't get back until half time. He's not crazy about football, just wants to watch the commercials! But he'll let me watch all the football I want (which is alot!).
Sounds like you will have a fun evening, Melissa!

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Week 2: Mattress
Bonus: Fire
Clockwork Prince (The Infernal Devices, #2) by Cassandra Clare
2/3/14 4.5 ★
Review: Lots of action and romance in this one and the love triangle that was hinted at in the first one becomes fully three sided in this one. But the characters themselves draw you in as does the world that Cassandra Clare has created.

Words of the Week
Mattress: p. 288 (elbows digging into the mattress)
Fire: p.70 (coals of fire)
Additional words claimed:
Fictional Character: p. 23 (Capitola in The Hidden Hand)
Frog: p. 202 (torn apart frog)
Hunter p.366 (I'm a vampire hunter)

message 140: by Jennifer H (new)

Thanks, everyone. Once I started, I couldn't put it down.

Turtlecollector Dennis Week 2: Mattress/Fire

Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy by Erin McCarthy
read 2/2/14 - 4 stars

I am not a huge NASCAR fan, I think racing is boring sport, but I love these books. In this one, a widow of a famous NASCAR driver gets involved with a younger driver from a rival family after deciding she wants a more settled life. They keep it quiet as long as they can, but eventually it becomes public. There are a lot of interesting family dynamics in this book. This book also sets up a couple of future books in the series.

Items claimed:
grandmother pg 265 "...the kids were back with their grandmother..."

frog pg 227 "They had already found a frog earlier..."

girl in red pg 6 "...Suzanne smoothed her hands down the front of her red dress..."

mattress pg 48 "She scooted back on the mattress..."

fire pg 226 "Elec sat in front of the fire he had built..."

~Melissa~ Week 2: Mattress/Fire
Fated (Dark Protectors, #1) by Rebecca Zanetti
2/2/14
4 - 4.5♥
Review: This is the first in a series and new to me author. I really enjoyed the introduction to this world. This was all fast paced action from the moment the book started until the end. I must say Talen and Cara are not a favorite couple. Slightly hard to believe you've (Cara) gone from OMG he kidnapped me to OMG I have to have him (all within the same day people > and they took her daughter elsewhere??). Esp for someone who prior it appears has rarely had sex?!? So didn't get the whole hopping into bed from her point. Totally got it from the uber alpha male's point. Talen needs to work on his communication skills. Looking forward to seeing how this story line progresses. Lots of potential here with shifters and vampires.

Mattress: p262 his heavy weight pushed her into the mattress
Fire: p103 He lit a fire....
Hunter: p396 she felt, rather than heard, the hunter on her heels
Unusual Name: MC male Talen
Bear: p 32 Grinning, she clutched her worn teddy bear to her chest

Dusty OK I'm almost done. Hope to finish tonight. Will post tomorrow.

message 147: by ~Leslie~ (new)

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) Great job, Melissa and Turtlecollector!!

I've had that book on my TBR new series for quite awhile, Melissa. Good to know it's worth reading!

And I've never heard of that series, Turtlecollector. Yay!! I get to add a new one!

message 148: by Jennifer H (new)

message 149: by ~Melissa~ (new)

Jennifer H Week 2: Mattress & Fire

Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts
Whiskey Beach by Nora Roberts
Finished: 2/5/14
Rating: ♥♥♥♥♥

Grandmother: a holiday visit with his grandmother (p. 5)
Frog: a frog strumming a banjo (p. 43)
Girl in Red: woman in a short red dress (p. 541)
Mattress: muffled against the mattress (p. 414)
Fire: come back and start a fire (p. 35)

I have to say I was intrigued by the characters in this book and the plot held my attention until I revealed who the true killer of the wife was. I love the way Nora weaves her characters together and how they mesh with delight and anticipation. I would totally recommend Whiskey Beach for a mystery and love story together.
