Who else is waiting for it with as much anticipation as me?!

(Yes, yes I hear you, those who scream 'The Book is better!' But appreciate art when you see it, don't be that guy who posts spoilers!)

((Also, I apologise for my spelling, but I've been unwell of late and I can't keep ontop of it like I usually do, so I hope I'm readable))

Brittany Willows (brittanymwillows) Eagerly awaiting the new season over here! Trying to plan a get-together with some friends who live in the city an hour away from me in which we will do a marathon run through the first three seasons before the next one starts up!

The show has really grown on me. Definitely one of my favourites! And I absolutely love Daenerys. <3

p.s, Feel better soon, Bisky! :3

My SO read the first few books years ago and was sooo excited for the series. All he kept talking about were the wolves haha

Daenerys is an amazing character. But Tyrion is also a favourite :3

Though i watched a movie the other day with Jamie lannister speaking norweign *melts*

Oooohh awww. Jamie <3 *drools* lol

My fav character's would have to be between Arya, Dany, and Tyrion for sure haha. I just can't choose one! D: Oh no! No, wait! Jaqen H'ghar. I love him and he's totes hot…no wait! Daario definitely wins the hotness factor.

"My sword is yours. My life is yours. My love is yours. My blood, my body, my songs, you own them all. I live and die at your command, fair queen." -Daario to Dany

*Swoon*

Carl Books are good but the show is better. I believe I'm there in that world.

T.J. West (tsalcedo) I haven't read the series, but the show is great!

Same here! Not read the books but enjoy the show.

I read the first book, I enjoyed it but for different reasons from the series.

I think they are really quite different :3

message 13: by Simon (new)

Simon (siwhite) | 3 comments Can't wait for season 4 to air.

The books are great and contain far more information than the TV series could ever hope to convey. That said, the TV series does get you to the same place in the end.

I think sometimes too much information can be a distraction. It's just so amazing that show. I really hope they consider other fantasy books in the future :3

I love the show but never read the books. They are still on my To Read list since I would definitely like to see how all the intrigue unravels through Martin's writing.

Is that all?

You should (in my opinion) give the books a read. Having watched the show first I found there were still surprises to be had as well as some great background on some of the stuff in the shows that didn't make sense (to me at least) or could have benefitted with a little more explanation.

Ross Gilfillan (rossgil) | 37 comments I was sure I didn't like fantasy until GoT. How wrong can you be? Not sure why I love this but it probably has to do with the writing mainly. The plot, which it has to be said, wonders all over the place, has all sorts of interesting roots, Medieval English history being the easiest correlation. Then there's the characterization. While Joffre is a hate figure for whom no death is too cruel, Tyrian is consistently interesting. Jamie, who we have been trained to despise, was last seen acting nobly, though this didn't sit well with him pushing the kid out the window in an early episode. And then there's the sense that no-one is safe. Sean Bean decapitated...the Red Wedding. Bring on the next series!

No effing spoilers at all in this pissing thread.

It's really not necessary as, yes, we can all read the bloody books. So no. Just don't.

Yep, my reading of the books really doesn't diminish my enjoyment of the series at all. For one, there are changes that make it a new experience, but mainly it's just so well made and powerfully acted. When I see the previews I'm virtually jumping up and down with excitement.

Totally agree it has been brought to screen really well, and I find it interesting to see how a certain bit has been done for TV. Really inspiring stuff for a writer I think.

J. David Clarke (clarketacular) | 418 comments True story: One of my tweets made io9's list "50 Greatest Responses to Last Night's Game of Thrones" article. (It was King Joffrey, Queen Margeary (sp) wedding episode, not to spoil anything). Anyway, it was basically a shoutout to actor Jack Gleeson, who plays Joffrey to perfection.
