When movies are made based off of books, they are usually met with mixed results. There are the good ones, like Harry Potter, Hunger Games, ETC. Then there are the bad ones, like Twilight ETC. Diary of a Wimpy kid's film was a mixed bag, more good than bad in my opinion. Here are some comparisons and contrasts.
While the movie had it's accuracies, it had a lot of changes from the book to the movie. The inaccuracies, however, were intentional, to add more plot and difference to the story. For example, Chloe Grace Moretz's character was nonexistent in the book, the character was just added into the movie. Greg and Rowley's "break up" thing was also added into the movie. Overall, the movie was alright.
