Kat (thatcrazykatlady) Hi, everyone!

I'm looking for good non-fiction concerning the GLBT movement. (Ooh, and I'd love love *love* it if anyone knew of a good, detailed history of Stonewall and the riots.) My dad's curious, and I'd love to bone up his knowledge of that specific area of history. I just haven't found anything that well-written yet.

Petra X (petra-x) These might be what you're looking for: Stonewall The Riots That Sparked the Gay Revolution by David Carter, or Stonewall by Martin Duberman. Two different perspectives. Both in paperback.

Abigail (42stitches) | 360 comments I read Transparent Love, Family, and Living the T with Transgender Teenagers a couple years ago. It's written by a journalist (if I recall correctly) who volunteered at alternative school for GLBT teens. So it's more current info and interviews with teens trying to deal with the school system. But it may still be helpful.

Jill (wanderingrogue) | 329 comments Tangentially related but The Celluloid Closet Homosexuality in the Movies is a great book on the history of queer cinema up until the early 90s, I believe. Considering how much movies are a part of our culture, it might be worth checking out.

I work in the English department on campus and we're the ones in charge of gender and women's studies. I can't remember some of the books that they teach off the top of my head, but I can ask and get back to you. :)

Kat (thatcrazykatlady) Thank you for the recs so far! Of these, I've only read Duberman's Stonewall (and I remember it as being kind of unsatisfying, but enlightening).

And Jill, if you could find out anything that way, that would be amazing. Thanks for offering!
