This portion covers the whole of Book X: Boys, starting from Chapter 1. Kolkya Krasotkin till the end of Chapter 7. Ilyusha.

I loved this part. Even though it's not a mid point technically but it appeared to be so. New characters, new plot points, development of earlier story lines took place and the overall interest was elevated through Koyla's entry. An insecure boy, desperate to be accepted by a wise adult, Alyosha and Dostoyevsky's spiteful commentary. Great stuff!

Cheryl I did too. And I agree, the story arch does seem almost midpoint. I liked seeing the transformation in the boys and how they rallied around Ilyusha. Also the transformation in Alyosha who seems more peaceful and at one with himself. But I think my favorite part was seeing the Captain's love for his son displayed: "If I forget thee, Jerusalem" --heartbreaking line when you think about the context.
