Michael | 4 comments How close are we to having this feature online?

Otis Chandler | 315 comments Probably 2-3 months - but I'll put down another vote :)

Saturnina | 12 comments Make that two votes! =) This relates to the issues I've described with accentuated letters and differences in spelling. But for searching from the German and French Amazons I think there should be something else implemented as well, to make for example è and e and ü and u conflate. I don't know what causes this, but when searching on the actual Amazon site, I get the same results whether searching with accents or without, but through GoodReads, it doesn't work.

Leonardo | 8 comments If this internationalization for French and German is to be implemented, then please add Portuguese, Italian and spanish:

é, á, ó, í, ú, ñ, õ, ã, â, ê, ô, ... actually any accentuated letter.

Jon | 10 comments Add my vote! I've been holding off cleaning up a number of authors for about 6 months because I'm waiting for this feature in order to be able to do it right . . . can't wait!

Meanwhile, thanks for all you do to make this website great and improving!

Carolyn (seeford) | 573 comments I'm trying to combine books that are listed in GR as two different authors, but the actual author has something like 20 pseudonyms and wrote over 200 books in his career (one won an Edgar award.)

Anyways, I'm a new librarian and I was looking for guidance on this and searched these posts. It has been several months since this last post, is the aka feature close to being up and running?

Otherwise, how should they be handled?

Thanks in advance!
Carolyn

Lisa Vegan (lisavegan) | 2400 comments In order for book editions to be combined they have to have the exact same first author spelling.

For now, I'm usually leaving alone the kind of situation you describe and waiting for an AKA feature.

Once I did change the spelling of an author in one edition of a book and made a note in the description field what the name of the author was on the book cover, but for an author with many different names I'm sadly leaving book editions uncombined for now.

Others?
