I really encourage everyone to check out the blogs posted above. (and to post or start your own if you havent) These women have great voices with some great, funny, serious, interesting, relateable things to say.

Anyway, Sara, read your blog post today about Charlotte's Web. You had me choking back tears, reading about you choking back tears. I cannot put it to words, but I UNDERSTAND. The older I get, the more teary I get. And I've never been a cryer. Anyway, I think it might have something to do with realizing that the world is not as rosy as I thought it was when I was a kid. So anytime I read/see/hear something touching it has a much more profound effect on me than it would have as a child...
I'm sure a lot of you already know but I was giddy when I found it so I'll share. If you go to your Books page and in that page over the "search my books" box is a list of links under 'tools' if you click the "widgets" you can add your good reads to your blog. And if you have added any quotes to your page. (I love a good quote) you can add the quote widget to your blog and it will randomly display your favorite quotes on your blog. A fun tool.

Kristen I actually keep two blogs. One a bit better than the other. One I keep is for my family like a type of family history. The other is mine. I post about what im working on or recipes I tried and hopefully will develope it more so in the near future.
The blogs here are great take a look at them and you will see all diferent types of uses for their blogs sharing, venting, self discovery. I think its a great tool. For some reason putting something down in words and letting it out to the world is theraputic for me. Even if its just a post about making cookies.

They are http://blog.farflungcraft.com (scrapbooking and crafty stuff)
http://sls.farflungcraft.com (personal, simple living/family blog
I LOVE all the names you all have come up with for your blog. I think the name alone can tell so much about the person.
I changed my blog name. It was too long to simply tell people so I made it simplier. Its now http://daysofus.blogspot.com/ same blog same stories same same just different address

Jo I wish you could come and join me! Sometimes when my house is a mess or I just need to feel something other than the mundane I go out there. I dont even do anything just to check on the flowers or my rose bush (one of which isnt doing so well for some reason) and I feel better about life. There is something about it that clears me and fills me up to go back inside and clean a toilet or pick up smooshed in fruit loops from the carpet with a smile.

Ok I have to say "WOW". If you havent yet take a few minutes and read through all the blogs listed. Especially if youre in a book slump (like I am now). The best reads out there that arent in the pages of a book.
Thanks again to everyone for sharing with us.

i don't know what it is about gardening! nothing soothes me more, nothing out of my hobbies gives me as much joy, nothing makes me feel more connected and alive! there's a quote, something about 'gardening is my church' because, for some, the connection to the earth & nature is spiritual & therefore there's a connection to God as well... i'll have to see if i can dig that one up! i can be out there, in the dirt, doing what ever for HOURS & not want to go back inside!
for each of us, i think, there are certain things that make us feel human- it can be literally things like books or a great cup of tea or lighting candles or taking a long quiet soak in the tub, or it's the act of journaling, taking a walk... for me, there are many things i feel this way about, but, a great shower after not being able to for a few days when i'm sick is 1 and another is anything to do with gardening!
sorry to get a bit off topic here! just wanted to repond!

1. can a blog be written anonymously? How does I start an anonymous blog
2. I want to garden. Not the kind with vegetables and herbs, but plants, shrubs, etc... I have no idea how to get started. I am not the least bit creative. I went to Barnes & Noble to see if I could find a book for amateurs like me and all I could find was Gardening for Dummies which did not appeal to me at all. All the rest overwhelmed me. So, what do I do.
Any help or guidance on either topic would be most appreciated.

w/respect to gardening, any of the "reader's digest illustrated guide to gardening" books are great, regardless of the year they come out. it does include veggies, but, it gives you an overview on everything you need to know to grow & take care of flowers & shrubs. (it's actually 1 of 2 text books for my gardening & landscape design course).
if you're looking for idea's on how to make & arrange a garden, it's got info on that too! there's really an awesome amount of info in there!
i'd try going to the library & looking through their gardening books. also, ask the reference librarian if he or she can help you locate books on flowers & shrubs that are native to where you live & will be easier to grow where you are.
lastly, i'd stay away from a - z encyclopedia type gardening books, they won't offer much help to you in the beginning stages of the game!
if i can be of any more help (assuming that i have been!), feel free to ask more Q's!

other than that I try to keep up with my traditional journal. I'm really excited to check out all of your blogs.

A really cool thing with Goodreads is you can add all your favorite quotes and get a widget to put it on your blog. I am a quotes junkie.
Share your blog addy if you have one. I love to read them almost as much as books. :)
