C. | 64 comments I found this series on DVD at my public library.Had never caught it on PBS,and I totally LOVE it!!! It is a fabulous magical adventure, plus the filming locations in France,England and Wales are pure eye-candy!

I just finished season~4 yesterday, and now must wait for them to get season~5 the final season.

I wish this series was in book form so that I could read it!!

Rob (robzak) | 876 comments I watched it as it aired in the US.

NBC aired season 1 during the writer's strike and SyFy picked it up with the rest, usually shortly after it finished airing the UK. I found it pretty enjoyable overall.

Tom (tom_shutt) | 19 comments I watched the entire series on Netflix over one glorious summer week.

The effects are campy, but in a good early-Doctor Who sort of way, and the dialogue is so enjoyable. I loved Merlin's character, all his sass dealing with Arthur.

It never hurts to have John Hurt voice a dragon, either =)

Oh yes,I love all the characters including the dragon.[except now I hate Morgana, lol!]

I'm so glad that I found this series on DVD,because this is the way I prefer to watch a series,on DVD over a few nights, instead of one week at a time.

Carole-Ann (blueopal) | 145 comments Not an avid fan, but yes, it was good.

Watched it with my grand-daughters who loved it (not understanding too much the fantasy involved :) ) but, although popular, it didn't catch the ratings it deserved....mainly b/c it WAS fantasy and stoic Brits won't admit that!

Definitely not my idea of Arthurian Legend (I've read loads of academic stuff on this), but very good for an evening's entertainment.

If you don't mind a fanfic (be aware this is slightly M/M romantically inclined) then The Student Prince is great fun to read!!

Kaesa Aw, Merlin. It is a fun, silly show, but I loved it nonetheless. Still haven't found something light and campy enough to replace it in my TV lineup.

(Seconding the Student Prince rec, by the way, such a good fic.)

Jenelle I love Merlin. Haven't finished it yet... but LOVE it. :) But then, I'm kind of prone to fall for anything Arthurian, and I love it when writers put fun/unique twists on old stories.

MK (wisny) | 480 comments I loved it too, although we lost track of it after series two, I think. So long between new seasons, it was easy to lose track of. Should look for it again ...

If you have Netflix streaming, it's on there...

No Netflix (Amazon prime). Netflix seems to have a way better library tho. Really should look into it ...
