I prefer not to read crappy books no matter the points, so I agree that teams need to decide ahead of time if they are willing to sacrifice enjoyment for winning.

I am also safe in the knowledge that me and fairy tales are not going to be BFF's lol

I have a new respect for my teammates Susan A and Shannon. they were the Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant of our team

Delitealex | 694 comments I really enjoyed this challenge and found some books I liked that I may haver never picked up otherwise.

I definitely agree with Lauren about not reading crappy books just for points.

Jenne (jennetheinstigator) | 7439 comments I went nuts with finding triple bonus books this last week. Most weren't very good but I did find 2 that I ended up really liking. Let it Snow by Erica Ridley and I really really liked this one: Grimm Mistresses by Stacey Turner

⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm (xar-the-bookwyrm) I gotta say, I sat this round out because the rules seemed confusing to me. That being said, reading the feedback, I understand it slightly better now, and am intrigued by the movie theme idea. And by intrigued, I mean really intrigued, enough that I'm hoping that it becomes a challenge for next year!

Totally understand the competitiveness but good books always win over bad :0)

I couldn't do it. A bad book just takes me forever and a day to read. Since that isn't an option for team challenges I tried to read books I knew I would like and others I hoped I would. I did listen to a book that I hated listening to for the points at the beginning but decided never again would I put myself through that!

Kayla (kaylaschwae) | 491 comments I absolutely love that every book counts. I know for me I'm not into reading fairy tales all so much but I picked books that fit mini challenges. I had a great time.

message 62: by Sheila (new)

Sheila (sheilaj) I liked that there were overlapping mini challenges, rather than everything changing every week. I'm sure that was tougher to figure out logistically though.

My only negative comment was that I thought the challenge went a bit long.

Like Kayla I liked that every book counted since I needed to read different books for different challenges.

Movie theme sounds good.

Looking forward to the next one :)

Paris (pah13) | 4285 comments Yeah maybe next time that can be a question. How competitive are you? I hate that I feel like I let my team down, but I have too many books I have to read, to read books that aren't any good. And I don't have time to re-read books so I couldn't read the Lunar Chronicles again even though I loved it and it would have been good points.

I can read a book (or two) a day if I enjoy it. But if I don't, it can take me days or weeks to finish. Not conducive for a team challenge at all.

This was a lot of fun though Jenne. I really enjoyed it. Thanks!

Christina T (crysteena73) | 1040 comments I felt a lot of time I was letting my team down because I tend to be a slower reader. I read 1 to 2 books a week and on a really good week I might be able to do 3 but that is really rare. I liked that we could really read any book but I hated that on some weeks my one and only book could only add 35 points towards our total. It was discouraging but the only person who seemed upset about it was me (my team was awesome about it!)

However, overall I totally loved this game. It was very creative and even though I'm not a big fan of fairy tale retellings I did manage to read a couple that I didn't totally hate. I think I like Beauty and the Beast type retellings the most.
