Safia Jones Flowers in the Attic (Dollanganger, #1) by V.C. Andrews Following Lifetime's reboot of this classic Virginia Andrews novel, will the film live up to the book?

Will the thought provoking topics covered in the book be shown in the film?

Are you pleased that this time we may actually have a film do justice to the book unlike the first film attempt?

Lisa I don't think this new one can be any more than the last one . Only thing is it's made me want to re read it and maybe it will get some new lovers

Hayden Vanier The first film was terrible and was missing most psychological issues covered by the book. And they probably won't talk about them in this film either.

Shanna Long I love their movies

Misha Crews I just recently saw the first one, and I thought it was all right. There was a good "making of" feature on the dvd, and from that it was easy to see that the filmmakers were very passionate about their project. I always find that kind of enthusiasm touching and it kind of softened my attitude toward the movie, which otherwise might have been a little harsh.

I give them major credit for keeping the incest storyline (although obviously they didn't have a choice, as they were planning all four movies). All in all I thought the adaptation was faithful and respectful, and I hope that it does earn VC Andrews some new fans.

As a side note, I'd love to see My Sweet Audrina made into a movie! There are so many great theatrical elements in that story, not to mention the usual Andrews dark corners and twisted, terrifying love lines -- I think it would make a really fantastic film.

Misha Crews Okay, just found out that Lifetime is making Audrina into a movie. http://www.completevca.com/bio_movie_...

I'll be looking forward to that one when it comes out. :-)

You know they are making them into movies

Yes, I figured that out right after I wrote my first post, lol, which is why I posted again two minutes later. A little slow on the uptake sometimes, aren't I? :-)

Shanna Long Theses books are amazing

Gema i saw the film along time ago when i was alot younger so didnt really pay much attention to it but i re-watched it this year and went out and bought the book right after seeing as the book is usually better.ihopeifthe remake it it will be more like the book

Karen I liked the movie better than the book. I read the book and was amazed when I saw the movie being advertised while watching another movie on Lifetime. I watched it. The new one should be interesting. The book was hard to get through. Tore me up, so I was prepared for the movie and it was easier to watch since I was prepared.

Kat Berishaj I watched the newer movie, and I can easily say that I liked the book way more. The movie cut out so many details and scenes that happened in the book, and scenes that I think were necessary to include. I'm not saying the movie was bad, I just don't think it matched up well with the book. I had a completely different vision of the book in my head while reading than what it actually turned out to be.

Taryn Flowers in the Attic and the rest of the Dollanganger series would probably have benefited more from a television series than an hour and a half movie per book.

For the most part, the Lifetime version of Flowers in the Attic is fine for me. I'm sure if I re-read the books I would take more issues with it, but for now the only three problems I had were:
1) (view spoiler)
2) (view spoiler)
3) (view spoiler)

Now, Petals on the Wind? I take major issues with the movie version. There was way too much material to cover in just an hour and a half.

Ashley Wiggin I watched all the the movies. I don't think they did any of the books justice. They left out WAY too many details.

Shanna Long My opinion is they need to make more movies and books like that because I love them even though I read all of them I have a problem but re reading them and I can't put them down its a a strong drug to me but I don't do drugs btw but they need to do more movies like that that is just my opinion but then against I'm a very weird person but no ones perfect and everything so who's judging not me so leave your comments here for me to read okay see y'all's later
