This is a great show for people who can handle some gore. The cinematography is amazing and the lead actor's nail it.

Season 2 preview

Love this show! Mads Mikkelson's portrayal of Hannibal is truly captivating. I can not wait for the next season to begin and plan to re-watch season 1 beginning this weekend.

Can't wait till this comes back on. I watched all of season one by catching up OnDemand.

Some of the people they came across were even more brutal then Hannibal which makes this show so intense!

I agree. He's so understated and refined that the murders they investigate seem so much worse. He's simply cooking beautiful food, right?

I love Hannibal's disgust at the crudity of some of the other killers they come across and the way he "improves" upon their technique.

It's a rare TV show where a detective is slowly driven mad by his own doctor. Almost a mirror image of "Criminal Minds".

I like the show, but I still have a hard time comparing it to the movies with Hopkins. To me, it seems, Hopkins will always be Hannibal.

I still haven't tried it but everyone here is making me curious now

True, but you couldn't expect Hopkins for a TV series. At least he looks appropriate and not some hand wringing mustache twirling villain.

I watched the first season over the past two weeks. I wasn't sold at first, but the more actively involved Hannibal gets, the more engaging the show becomes.

I haven't watched it yet but, I remember the first time I saw a promo photo for it and thought he looked part at least. I am also very curious to start it after seeing this thread.

I absolutely agree, he is amazing as Hannibal. I can't wait for the second season to start.

Just finished first season on dvd, was very curious about the show, it was good, but it didn't captivate me as I thought it would, despite the great acting, stylization and all the food porn.
What I'm curious about though is this...the series is meant to cover all the books over about 7 seasons (that's their plan) and seasons 1 to 3 are meant to be a sort of prequel to the events of the first book/movie, so then why use the events/killers/plot from the first book for season 1? What are they gonna do by the time they chronologically get to the first book/movie storyline? rewrite it? doesn't seem very logical
I'd be interested to hear what everyone's thoughts on this might be

I just hope they keep the same kind of style and suspense that made season one so good.

I watched it and thought the premiere was pretty good. I hope it did well in the ratings.

Me too. Here's hoping for a season 3.

Ratings were up from last season but they are still low. I think it's cheap for NBC to produce plus it already has license rights over seas so fingers crossed that they keep it around.

This is on the top of my favorite shows list. It's the most well-written series on tv.

The beginning was nuts and just went you let your guard down and think 'hey, Hannibal doesn't seem like a bad guy' he does something that is utterly disturbing and mindf*&ks you! This season definitely looks like it's going to be good!

I also think this show is visually stunning. Everything looks so pretty while in actuality, it's quite insane.

I feel the same way and that is the comment I see most about the show, how visually stunning it is.

Looks like another good episode tonight. I still got last weeks stuck in my head..that was so chilling.

You know it's going to be good. It's kind of amazing that a show like this is on one of the network channels. They certainly don't shy away from anything.

I have to appreciate NBC for sticking with a show like Hannibal, with how dark it is you would think it would have gone to cable.

What would you do if you thought back to something you really enjoyed eating only to now realize that what you had eaten was human? ....:O!!!

Nope! Sure ain't with him. Hannibal can disguise and touch up food so well you wouldn't be able to tell a lamb chop from a man's ankle..

The latest episode was insane! They make horror look so beautiful.

My jaw has dropped in the opening 5 minutes for the last two weeks..I think I'm just gonna leave it on the floor.

That was a great way to start the season. I'm thinking the fight will be the finale too and we'll get to see how it ends. This whole season is crazy good.

You ever notice how nonchalant Hannibal acts? It isn't until he gets all info on whether or not he has to clean up his tracks that he shows his true colors and intentions.

I think that's what makes him so great. Mads Mikkelsen plays the role so smoothly that he never seems like someone that would be committing such brutal (but strangely beautiful) acts.

As far as the invite goes: I fortunately am vegetarian. I know though, the honey, mushrooms, and who knows what else are people too.

Good to read this thread. The first series was excellent, so I'm looking forward to the UK premiere of series 2 (whenever that is!)

I can't wait for that either, I am guessing that is how the season will end or at least close to the end of the season. I am also thinking Hannibal will escape and if there is a season three it would focus on Jack and Will trying to capture him. Maybe even Gillian Anderson would come back (Hannibal's therapist) to help track him down.
