Is the setting of your novel interesting enough for readers to seek it out and visit?

I've had a few requests for 'Katla Tours', guided tours through Amsterdam where locations that appear in the books would be pointed out to visitors.
And I have met several readers who came over and contacted me for lunch... :)



My novel is set in 1843 Alta California (before CA was a state) in Altadena about fifteen miles east of Los Angeles..
And the hero is an elf

Hi, Justin! Thanks. The story has actually 3 protagonists and each is from one of these places. They meet in NY though, but there are chapters where they are seen in their respective locations!

That's pretty cool. Good for you, getting to meet your readers!

Even in the city the book mostly takes place in (has some similarities to San Francisco and New York City), it'd be wise to be on your toes. The tyrannical ruler isn't one you'd want to trust to keep you safe...or free.

Yes, I enjoyed that tremendously. I love Amsterdam and I think that shines through in my fiction.
