I'm going to second Zombieslayer's suggestion of the Dresden Files books.

The Royal Mess is a trilogy with the male mc's being well over 6'. I can't remember if they are 6'6" or not, but thought I'd mention them any way. VERY lighthearted alternate history romance novel.

I'll do some checking and see what else I have that could fit your request and post them alter.

Peter Meilinger | 469 comments Lee Child's Jack Reacher is only 6'5", I think, but his size and power are a big part of all of his stories.

Robert E Howard's Conan the Barbarian is at least 6'6", if I recall correctly. My only real quibble with Schwarzenegger playing him in the movies was that Arnie just wasn't big enough, even back in his bodybuilding days.

Fezzik the giant isn't the protagonist of The Princess Bride, but one chapter is from his point of view and gives his rather sad life story.

For that matter, the graphic novel biography Andre the Giant: Life and Legend is about, you guessed it, Andre the Giant, who was well above a paltry six and a half feet tall. I saw him wrestle several times when I was a kid back in the 70's, before he started declining, and "Giant" is the right word for the man.

An interesting series is the Saint-Germain series by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. The title character is a very old vampire, and the stories are set in different times/places. And in them, Saint-Germain's height changes, not because he's growing (or shrinking) but because of the way that the "regular" humans around him are changing. So in a book set in earlier times (I am trying to remember, I think that SG is a couple of thousand years old) he's considered very tall, then just tall, then average, then slightly below average, then short. The most "modern" ones, he wears lifts in his shoes so that he looks taller than he really is, but is still short. I think he's like 5'3 or 4.

Not sure it's really what you are looking for, but thought I'd throw it out there, as a different view of what is "taller than most".
