Iron Chef is great. I only like the ending when the judges taste the foods...

message 11: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Oh! Another of my favorite shows is Clean House. Love Neicy and the "mayhem and foolishness". I'm addicted to seeing just how cluttered and gross the homeowners are!

message 12: by Chasidy (new)

Chasidy I totally forgot about Diners, Drive Ins, & Dives! Guy is crazy funny. Oh and Ace of Cakes. :)

message 15: by SoBeA (new)

SoBeA (sobe1982) | 39 comments I used to watch an insane amount of television , but after my two favorite shows, Gilmore Girls , and Alias ended (and the writing for both, in my opinion turned to crap) I stopped watching television for awhile, so much so that I got rid of my DVR.

Now, and I don't know if it's age (though I'm only 26, so that, I don't think, is it), or continually hearing my sister's diatribes about how evil television is, and how horrible it is, and it poisons us all, and so on and so on, that's affected me, but even when I hear about a new show that sounds interesting, I can't watch more then a few minutes before getting bored. Most of what I do watch now is my brothers' fault. He watches quite a bit, and he keeps talking a few shows up, and the next thing I know I'm a regular watcher!!

But I do usually keep a book on hand to read through commercials and all the boring bits.

So all I watch is:
The Daily Show
The Colbert report
Psych
Doll house
24 (I only recently started watching this, and haven't bothered with the earlier eps)
and (on dvd/online) occasional eps of Firefly and Arrested Development.

I couldn't stand the books, but I've watched the first eps of true blood too, and it's not bad, but it'll probably take me forever and a day to watch them all!
Mostly I like using it to practice my Southern accent :)

Same here! I loved Vaughn! and Sydney too, though I was totally jealous of how toned her arms were, lol :P
Though in my (not so) humble opinion, the show starts to go to hell in the last 2 minutes of "The Telling" (the last episode in season 2) where she wakes up in HK having missed 2 years of her life. They almost made it better in season 4, then season 5 really killed it for me... so much so I still haven't been able to watch the final episodes!

...and I just realized the topic said "current shows"...oops!

LOL Don't worry about it. I'm not a stickler for ALWAYS sticking to the exact topic. It's okay to branch off once in a while. Besides it adds to the discussion. :)

★Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ Sheba Tong Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ★ (shebatong) | 0 comments I'm not crazy about the shows that are television now. There are way too many reality tv shows. The only shows I watch that are still in production are...

Bones
True Blood
Top Chef
Legend of the Seeker

Legend of the Seeker is based on Goodkind Terry's series. Wizard's First Rule is the first book in the series. It's actually REALLY good. They just finished the first season, so I am guessing it'll be on DVD soon. :) The second season starts this fall I think. :)

Has anyone seen Tudors?

One of my friends suggested it to me today, and I was wondering if anyone else likes it...

message 26: by Nona (new)

Nona (goodreadscomnona) | 102 comments I watched the first two seasons of Tudors, I'm a history nut. Season four should be starting soon, I like most of the cast, the costumes are beautiful and the show is good, not great but good. Season one was nothing but sex and beheadings however it has toned down to the story now. I think they used Philippa Gregory as their history guru when writing it and well she can be far from accurate so if you watch, watch for entertainment not any kind of facts.

LOL Are the sex scenes as graphic as the ones in True Blood?

message 28: by Nona (new)

Nona (goodreadscomnona) | 102 comments I haven't watched but two episodes of True Blood so can't say for sure. I think it is the setting that makes it so steamy, dark room candles everywhere, a half naked Jonathan Reyes beautful surrounding and ahe can woo a woman but there is alot of skin showing in season one, then they realized the story was really good and became some what modest as the time period was.

There is no group orgies that the last true blood I saw though.

LOL Gotta love those orgies! I think that there have been 2-3 episodes in True blood with them...

Well, I am going to have to try Tudors. Is it the type of show that takes a few episodes before I'll like it?

message 30: by Nona (new)

Nona (goodreadscomnona) | 102 comments I think if you go into it with an open mind to history and how it might have really been you'll like it but keep in mind it is history so you get alot of info each show like Cromwell and his downfall and Charles Brandon and Mary Henry VIIIs sister marraiage behind Henry's back. I like it for the fact that it showed perspectives from people at court, and the show is not pro-Anne or pro-Katherine, it includes all of his wives and childern too.

message 31: by Lauren (new)

Arthur is my favorite. I wasn't too crazy about the actress that plays Guinevere...I like their choice for Merlin though...What did you think of the dragon?

message 43: by Karyn (new)

Karyn (honestbutevil) | 37 comments I quite liked the Dragon and I think John Hurt's voice was right for it. Guinevere doesn't seem like Guinevere to me. Gaius is just funny - I love him! Have you seen the season finale yet?

message 44: by J.D. (new)

J.D. Stroube | 2393 comments Mod
Yep, saw the finale. I love Gaius too. :) I'm in the US, but I managed to find the episodes online. :) I can't wait for season 2! I know it is supposed to air in the UK this fall, so hopefully I'll be able to get the episodes online...

Karyn (honestbutevil) | 37 comments Other than there is a second season I've heard nothing. I hate how we have to wait for ages to get most of the good shows over here as I have no patience and end up spending hours on tv.com. Lengend of the seeker is only starting here next month and I'm not expecting to see season 2 of Fringe until christmas.
