Empress (the_empress) Hello,

I know we prefer to use the editor name (when author is not available). Before we used to clean up publisher profiles for books that had author/editor names available.

Is this no longer the case?

For example this publisher can be merged with the editor stated in the description: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

Also I see other profiles such as design houses, publishers and etc. added as additional authors. Can those be deleted or are we keeping them?

Elizabeth (Alaska) Is there some reason to assume that editor is always the editor on the editions of Scientific American?

Good point, I did wonder that. In the book preview I looked at it says "from the editors", so I guess they do change. But shouldn't we move all the Rufus Porter books in the publisher profile as well and add him on a secondary position?

A separate question: I've seen few profiles where all books would have a primary author (I think those were novels but don't remember) and would have as a secondary author a publisher, or designer house or both. Should those profile be deleted?

Elizabeth (Alaska) With example of this author/publisher

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

includes this:

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

originally published in 1826. I don't know who else would go on the author line. Anonymous?

Example? I would think the publisher as secondary author should be deleted, but I'd feel better if Rivka chimed in on this one.

I looked at the two last topics where I think I posted the profiles but couldn't find it. I never got an answer. I think it was modern (romance) novels.

Will look again
I couldn't find my comment. Might have been deleted. Will post here if I stumble on it again.

I don't think so.

The publisher should only be listed as an author/editor if no individual human is known. But be careful of assuming that all works published by a given company are necessarily edited by one individual.
