Bev (greenginger) | 744 comments Hi

please one nomination each plus one second for adult fantasy only.

You have 3 days to nominate your choice.

The first 6 properly nominated and seconded books will go to the poll where the top 2 will be books for August.

There is no theme this month but please no young adult or scifi. Thanks.

Shadowdenizen | 193 comments I'd like to recommend To Whatever End, by Claire Franks, a great new voice in fantasy fiction. (This is her debut novel, and it's quite a pot-boiler!)

It's a wonderful read in a number of regards, not the least of which is that the protagonists are a happily-married couple! (Indeed, the crux of the book is to see how far one person will go to retrieve someting once it is lost to them.)

(I checked the bookshelf, and didn't see that it was read before, plus it's a fairly new release. If I missed it, my apologies.)

Bruce Nordstrom I'm going to nominate, "Wizard of the Pigeons, by Megan Lindholm. I found the theme very original, and a delicate balance between reality and fantasy storytelling. Liked it very much.

I'm nominating The Element of Fire by the excellent Martha Wells.

I'll second To whatever end.

Shadowdenizen | 193 comments How have I not heard of "Elemnt of Fire"?
Sounds pretty cool, as does "Mirror Empire".

I'll have to look at them both before I second one of them, though I'm adding them both to my "To-Read" queue.

Bev (greenginger) | 744 comments Hi due to lack of interest I am going to be a bit crazy.

My intention is to take the top 2 and we will read those in August.
The next 2 will be for September and the final 2 for October. I hope this is ok and that you all enjoy them.

Thanks for nominating.
