It is very sad to hear about Shirley Temple's death earlier this week at the age if 85. Not only was she a wonderful actress but she was a wonderful person. I grew up watching her movies and loved them! What are your favorites?

I frankly don't know much about her, perhaps because growing up as a boy her movies are not the kind of thing young boys ever watch.

But I admire her performance as a teenager in one of my fave westerns, John Ford's 'Fort Apache' with John Wayne and Henry Fonda.

The one movie I recall ever seeing from start-to-finish with her was (if memory serves) 'Little Miss Marker' (but I really watched that flick primarily for Adolph Menjou, of whom I'm a firm fan). There was a remake in the 70s starring Walter Matthau, Brian Denehy, and some equivalent child actress whose name no, I can NOT recall. Not Tatum O'Neill I don't think.

Clips I've seen of her singing and dancing (especially the one with Bill Robinson) are pretty endearing. Talented little dickens she was!

p.s. Doris Day is still alive, right? Another actress I don't know much about. But when she was paired with Rock Hudson the results were side-splitting. 'Pillow Talk' is the best one I recall. With Thelma Todd and Tony Randall. Utter hilarity.
