Nathan | 45 comments I'm currently reading Captain Corelli’s Mandolin and in the version I'm reading, Captain Corelli himself doesn't appear until page 152 of 411 (he was mentioned briefly around page 100).

In any of the 1001 books, have you noticed a severe lack of the title character in the first 1/3 of the book?

Katherine (katats) | 150 comments It's been awhile, but I feel like it takes quite some time in The Master and Margarita for the title characters to show up. But, I may have been so enthralled with Behemoth to be bothered.

I think you're right, though: neither The Master nor Margarita show up for quite a while.
