Support for Indie Authors discussion

I've actually gotten to authorship status on Goodreads because of translations I did on Babelcube (I've been working as a translator since 2005, but I worked mostly with manuals and academia, now I'm veering torwards novels, and am working on have my own work published soon).

I know that, for translators, in theory, it works well - depending on the books you pick to translate. I've only chosen one that really sells (a children's book), and apparently it can take even longer than Amazon to register and transfer funds, but I'm not sure how it works for authors. Wondering if anyone has tried it out or knows something about it.

This looks very interesting. It seems that the author can't lose. Since the translation is free. The translator has to put in a real shift of work, for a share of the royalties.

Of course, one has little ability to judge the quality of the translation. A poor translation may damage product image, but only in markets that the author could not reach themselves in any case.

I believe that the translated work becomes a "Co-authored" work legally.

I don't know how that affects the "final decisions" of the translated work.
