I run a writing/book blog (http://allwritethen.blogspot.com/ in case anyone is interested) and plan on doing a "Fall Fantasy" theme for September, October, and November, during which I plan on reviewing only fantasy books/movies and will be starting on a sporking of a fantasy book. I already have a few books that I plan on reading/reviewing, but I'm looking for a few additional recommendations, specifically for Brandon Sanderson, Robin Hobb, and/or Mercedes Lackey. I already have a few books by each on my to-read shelf, but would like to know where the best place to start for each would be for a first-time reader.
For the curious, my read/review list so far includes Storm Front, Kushiel's Dart, A Game of Thrones, and either Prince of Thorns or The Eye of the World. I'll also be sporking City of Bones. I'm thinking I should be able to read 2 books per month plus one chapter of the sporking per week, so I think I'll only be able to read two suggested novels. I'm certain that I probably get around to reading additional suggestions at some point, though.
Thanks in advance for the help! Oh, and if anyone would happen to have any fantasy movie suggestions too, that would be great. I'm already thinking about reviewing Snow White and the Huntsman (should be lots of snarky fun...).
Mercedes Lackey - I suggest starting with her Arrows of the Queen series.Queen's Own It really is the best place to start with her most well known series - Valdemar.
Movies - How about one of the more recently released?
