When the Lusitania sank, one survivor became a changed man, giving up his life as a petty thief—but keeping the small silver statue he lifted, a family heirloom to future generations. Now, nearly a century later, that priceless heirloom, one of a long-separated set of three, has been stolen. And Malachi, Gideon, and Rebecca Sullivan are determined to recover their great-great-grandfather’s treasure, reunite the Three Fates, and make their fortune. The quest will take them from their home in Ireland to Helsinki, Prague, and New York where they will meet a brilliant scholar who will aid them in their hunt—and an ambitious woman who will stop at nothing to acquire the Fates...

This is one of my all-time favorite books by Nora. I started a re-read of it last month but got side tracked by life. I haven't been reading much of anything lately. I'll get my book mojo back with this one. :)

Enjoy this book everyone! And come back and discuss it with us when you're ready.

V.M. LaFountain I don't know if I've ever read this one. So this will be a new read for me. :)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7083 comments Mod
It's a first-time read for me!

Nikki ♥ | 283 comments It's a first time for me as well!

Yay! I haven't reread that one in a while and it's one of my favorites. Let's go.

Looking forward to discussing this one. I'm excited to see how those who haven't read it like it and how those who have enjoy their re-read. :)

Sharon (avid_readerss) | 17 comments Went to my stash of Nora's books and pulled it out. I look forward to re-reading it. When do we begin the discussion?

Sharon, please feel free to start discussing any time you wish. However, if you include spoilers before the sixteenth, please hide them. Thank you.

Nikki ♥ | 283 comments I finished yesterday. I thought it started out a little slow, but then it really picked up and I couldn't put it down. At first I felt that it could have been done as a trilogy, but as I got further along I was happy it was one book. If it has been a trilogy, the middle book would not have been so good (IMO). She had a great cast of characters and I loved the settings.

This was a solid 4.5 for me and another Nora book I'll reread.

Can't wait to see what everyone thinks.

This is a reread for me. I guess I never saw the beginning as slow, When I think about it now I can see how people could think that. Since all three sets of people were so involved in all the action, I don't think it would have worked as a trilogy at all. That just goes to show you how two people can have totally different opinions.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1492 comments I love the history and the three romances was a great gift. I'm glad it wasn't done as a trilogy. This way the plot and relationships keep moving and I love that.

Sheery (wwwgoodreadscomprofilesheery) | 726 comments Mod
I remember when I first read this book that in the beginning I was thinking it should have been a trilogy. However, at some point I changed my mind about that. It works perfectly as it is. I don't think there was enough material to spread it out over three books.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 1492 comments So instead of three mediocre books, we have one awesome one!

Susan | 7 comments I haven't reread this in a while but I like it a lot and plan to reread it next. Great story and I loved the sting they pull at the end.

Sheery (wwwgoodreadscomprofilesheery) | 726 comments Mod
I finished this yesterday. I love it as much as I ever did. :)

Jennifer | 96 comments One of my favorites. So much happens. I always felt like this one book could have been stretched into a trilogy. But it doesn't feel crammed into one book. It flows and it's always entertaining. It has action, romance, banter and just the right amount of snark.

message 18: by V.M. (new) - added it

V.M. LaFountain I finished it up while on vacation. It was a good read. It doesn't at all feel crammed into one book. I think as a trilogy it would feel like it dragged. This way you can get through the story and the romances and get to the end! Can't wait for the next book to read!

You know, the first standalone I read by Nora was Montana Sky and it felt like a trilogy in one book and it worked for me, continuing to be my most favorite. Now I'm really excited about reading this one.

Sheery (wwwgoodreadscomprofilesheery) | 726 comments Mod
Charity - I found that I disliked Anita even more this time, as well. She is ruthless and vicious and manipulative wrapped in a nasty ball. I LOVE how the Sullivan's, Tia, Cleo and Jack get back at her. It's incredibly well-done.

And Jonetta, you just made me want to re-read Montana Sky. I don't think I've read that one since it first came out.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7083 comments Mod
Starting this today!

So, since it's after August 15, let's make this a Spoiler Zone from here forward.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7083 comments Mod
Do you think Malachi should have come clean to Tia about his motives much earlier? Were you surprised at how perceptive she was in watching Mal and Anita interact for the first time?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7083 comments Mod
I just finished and loved this story! I'm curious why this book isn't talked about more.

I don't think this would have worked well as a trilogy. The stories were too interwoven and having them presented together was a strength, IMO.

Sheery (wwwgoodreadscomprofilesheery) | 726 comments Mod
Jonetta, I think having the stories interwoven was a strength, as well. Also, the first time I read it I think I was surprised by Tia's perception about Mal and Anita, too. However, Tia spent her life being overlooked (mistakenly, but still). She was used to being the observer and people always sold her short. It plays to the groups advantage in eventually taking Anita down. So, the fact that she immediately clued in to the fact that Mal and Anita not only knew one another previously but had had an intimate relationship of sorts really wasn't that much of a surprise.

This book is easily in my top three favorites by Nora. I don't know why it seems to get overlooked but I'm so happy many in this group have had the chance to read it. :)

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7083 comments Mod
As I read further, I got much better insight into Tia, who's my favorite. When you spend your life being ignored, you get really good at observation. I agree with all of your points.

I'm glad we read this book! It's definitely in my top five favorite standalones.

Louise | 26 comments Absolutely loved this book

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7083 comments Mod
Completely understand, Sarah!

Louise | 26 comments Definitely in my top five favourite Nora Roberts books.

Jennifer | 8 comments Three Fates deserves all the love. Having three couples meet, work together and end up together might seem crammed or too much gets left out but I really liked the way it all flowed together. Each couple grew together in a fast paced but believable way.
Mal and Tia were sweet and strong. Gideon and Cleo were sexy and vulnerable. Jack and Rebecca were take charge and fun.
I recommend Three Fates to everyone I can.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7083 comments Mod
I agree, Jennifer! This one is on my list of favorites.
