Dawn (dawntice) | 18 comments Hi, I am a huge series fan searching for others like me. I don't mind stand alone books but I like to get invested in characters and so I am looking for new series. I hope that i find fellow series readers and/or authors to offer up suggestions and maybe we can help each other find new material to us. I was going to put the genres I do not like but since I hope we can help each other I won't do that incase someone else likes it. If you don't mind though give us a genre that it would fall into.

Have fun and I look forward to the new gems we all get to find.

Lynne Stringer | 90 comments I'm a fan of series as well. Here are some of the ones I've liked:

Twilight
The Hunger Games
Under the Never Sky
I liked the Frost Chronicles at first, but then got tired of them.
I read a book called Unwanted recently, by Amanda Holohan, which seems to be the first in a series, and another called Dissonance by Erica O'Rourke. Its sequel is out now but I'm waiting for a gap in my to-read list to get to it.
I'm also currently enjoying The Guardians trilogy by MJ Stevens.

I've also written a trilogy myself. It's called the Verindon trilogy and is a YA sci-fi romance. You can find out more about it here: The Heir or at www.lynnestringer.com/my-books

Dawn (dawntice) | 18 comments I will check it out. You may like The Chronicles of Nick by Sherrilyn Kenyon. Thanks!

Iffix Santaph | 5 comments Greetings,
I am a YA author myself, currently having released two works in my sci-fi/fantasy series Forgotten Princess. The third will be released by November. (If you'd like more information, please feel free to click on my name above this post.)
I enjoy reading series of others for inspiration. My favorite is easily Eoin Colfer's Artemis Fowl series. I also really enjoyed Patrick Carman's middle-grade series The Land of Elyon and Christopher Healy's series "Hero's Guide". On the darker side of MG, Lemony Snicket's Series of Unfortunate Events was spectacular. Adult Sci-Fi and Fantasy series I have enjoyed include Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn and Terry Pratchett's Discworld (which is also excellent for those seeking comedy).

Dawn (dawntice) | 18 comments Thank you, I am so glad we are all talking about these and you all are giving me ideas that I didn't have yet. Let me know what age group you are so I might share age appropriate works with you as well. I read some YA/NA (Twilight Saga) but I tend to lean more toward adult fiction however, I have 3 children that fall in the YA catagory. One who loves graphic novels. Keep them coming everyone. This is great.

Antoinette Turner (smaft2) | 20 comments Kim Harrison - The Hollows series
C. L. Wilson - Tairen Soul Series
Patricia Briggs - Mercy Thompson Series

All can be read by older teens onwards.

Grace Hamilton | 50 comments Have you tried Jean Auel's , The Earth Children Series, I also love reading drama's by Tom Clancy and his John Ryan series and actually several other writers such as Wilbur Smith and Nora Roberts who writes different trilogies. The stories that have consistency and familiar characters makes books feel like old friends...good luck in obtaining great series

Dawn (dawntice) | 18 comments I just downloaded some of the Jack Ryan series and haven't had a chance to start them. Some of my favorite are Christine Feehan's The Game series, J.D. Robb In Death (homicide cop) series, Rebecca Zanetti Sin Brothers, Maya Banks KGI Series. I have more if anyone needs them.

message 10: by Owen (new)

Owen Banner (owenbanner) For an incredible Sci Fi series, you should get in the Red Rising Series. It's in the same vein as Hunger Games and Ender's Game and those dystopian futures, but it's got so much more meat. Red Rising

message 11: by F.J. (new)

F.J. Hansen (fjhansen) | 22 comments Yeah, I enjoy series, especially if there's a clear beginning and ending. Not so much a fan of series that seem to go on and on and on...

I mostly lean toward science fiction and fantasy, myself.

I have particularly enjoyed...

Age of Fire by E.E. Knight
Dragonriders of Pern by Anne McCaffrey
Humanx Commonwealth by Alan Dean Foster
Dragon Companion by Don Callander

My most recent discovery is the Star Kingdom books by David Weber.

Over the last ten years, I've been developing a series blends dragons into an otherwise science fiction universe. The first three books are out now--Draconia: Forging Trust, Draconia: Fractured Dream, and Draconia: Rehatching.

Dawn (dawntice) | 18 comments Thanks everybody. I will add all of these to my list. I found a new one that you all may like. It is not a teenage book, it has more adult theme. THE MEN OF MERCY by Lindsay Cross. I love this series. She is a fairly new author so there are a few errors but it is getting great. The books surround a group of military men, now a team, that each either have a past or find a new love on their missions. They are quick reads and they are truly my favorite at this time. Let me know what you think. Some are available on kindle for free sometimes. I think they are under priced but it is a plus for us. You may also want to check out Leslie Georgeson she has books that are stand alone but tie back to one another. Okay, keep the ideas coming I love all the recommendations.

Rosemarie These series are quite old but they are engrossing: all the David Eddings books. There are ten in the one set, and six in the other.
I am also a big fan of the Pittacus Lore "I am number four" series.
My favourite of the Pern books is The White Dragon.

message 15: by Antoinette (new)

Anita (neet413) | 2 comments I am four books into the urban fantasy series The Iron Druid Chronicles, a very entertaining series with the likes of druids, vampires, werewolves, Celtic and Norse gods and one totally fun-to-be-around Irish Wolfhound named Oberon.

A good horror/paranormal series is the Repairman Jack books by F Paul Wilson, pretty deep reading but worth the effort.

Also, while it's not technically a series, the multiple books by Tim Dorsey that follow a couple of social deviants named Serge and Coleman around Florida are always a sure bet for fun, fast reading.

message 18: by Stan (new)

Stan Morris (morriss003) I'll second the David Weber Honor Harrington series and the Lindsey Davis Falco series. Davis is presently writing a series about Falco's adopted daughter.

The Ides of April

message 19: by Kahlen (new)

Kahlen Aymes (kahlen_aymes) | 1 comments I'm a series reader (and series writer). I agree that it helps to flesh out the characters! Do you prefer series where the main characters carry through, or where one of the supporting characters becomes the main character in the subsequent books? :)

message 20: by Tiffany (last edited Aug 10, 2017 05:45AM) (new)

Tiffany PSquared (tiffanypsquared) Almost everything I read these days is part of a series:

Lee Child - Jack Reacher series
George R.R. Martin - Game of Thrones series
Martha Grimes - Emma Graham's series
Janet Evanovich - Stephanie Plum series
Douglas Preston / Lincoln Child - Agent Pendergast series
James Patterson - Women's Murder Club series
Dean Koontz - Odd Thomas series
Patricia Cornwell - Kay Scarpetta series

And I could go on and on and on...

message 21: by Misty (new)

Misty | 1 comments I love the Stephanie Plum series. Can't wait for the next installment to come out.

message 22: by Grace (new)

Grace Hamilton | 50 comments A new Australia author, Brooke Sivendra, has written a suspense romantic thriller...The James Thomas Series, along with the Soul Series and new to come out in September the first book of the Deacon Series...this is an edge of your seat, unable to put down story and well worth the read...she has also written a novella as an offshoot of the JT series....
