Brent So are these books still the flavor of the month, is there a new book on the horizon, has any one else lost interest in these books.

John Cornelius I am only on the second book (A Clash of Kings) thus far, and still curious as to how the story unfolds. Have yet to actually watch a single episode, but still reading.

Emma I am too only on the second book, 21% into it (apparently) and the hype for me is growing and growing. I'm already a fan of the TV show, up to date, but yeah the hype for he is still going.

I would recommend finishing all the books before watching the show. Otherwise things will be spoiled for you.

Michael For me, having read all the books for quite some time now, the wait took to long, and the hype is a bit spoiled and over for me...
I mean, it's been way too long and still no new one on the horizon. I don't know if I will read the new books when they finaly do come out.

Emma I heard something about the new books coming out at the end of this year, is that true?

I'm with you, especially when there's talk of divergence between the tv series and the books. Of course, I might change my mind by the time I actually see a new book, but in the meantime my interest has waned.

Ad.costas I am currently re reading book 3. Hopefully, if the timing favors me I will get the new book not long after I have finished book 5. I am hyped, yes I am. The failure of the series to keep up with the story and the failure of the producers to make better use of the original material instead of making up fan-fiction plots did not affect my opinion for the books. Also I really like the board game Game Of Thrones. It's really good. If anyone enjoys strategy games I recommend it.

Brent Michael and Phil have hit the nail on the head.a similar series of books is the two Patrick routhfuss novels,i remember them being really good books but I could not tell you who the main characters are or what the plot is about.I think some books are just getting to long and the wait for sequels is just ridiculous.

That is awesome! I am a couple chapters farther past the point where Tyrion and the counselors at King's Landing have just received the rumors of Jaime's and Cersei's incest.

Eigil Wiegell What is hype may never die, but rises again hyper and tinfoilier

Go check out the subreddit for A Song Of Ice And Fire. The detailed world of Martin is unbelievable and has led to detailed papers and theories on future events. There is so much to explore post-read, and I seriously recommend reading the books a second time.

John Never! I cannot wait for the story to continue.

NT Mariane W Snow never read before you watch, believe me watch the show before you read and then you'll thank me for it, {SPOILER} i didn't lose anything till now and i really hate leaving such wide and broad universe's story unfinished and i'm dying to see how it will all end especially to see if the chosen one will come or not and who he will be (Azor Ahai) and i'm waiting to see the real song of ice and fire when all characters discover that the throne is nothing but a distraction from the world's main problem

Reddit is dark and full of crackpot theories...

Brooklyn Ann HA! I'm more obsessed than ever. CLEGANEBOWL: GET HYPE!

Brent What's cleganebowl get hype, what does that mean.

Brooklyn Ann It's an entertaining fan theory: http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/clegane...

Brent yes it is a entertaining theory. The hound is dead, bringing him back would be as bad a story line as Brandon turning into a tree.

Brooklyn Ann Except, it's pretty obvious in A FEAST FOR CROWS that Sandor is alive: http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/...

Emma Ahhhh people!! This is a discussion for the first book... Please be aware of spoilers. I'm only 70% into a clash of kings rn

Brent more theorys there is still no positive evidence.and if it was true it just proves my point that the books are two far apart and two long ive read them all twice and I cant even remember some silent grave digger that could or could not be the hound.

Brent sorry emma in future will make sure I post spoiler alert.keep reading the books there is a lot more twist and turns that will keep you up at night

Emma Thanks. And yeah I'm trying to read as quick as I can to catch up. The books so far are great :)

OMG, I'm so sorry! I forgot to look at which book this was assigned to!

All I can say is, don't click on any of those links I posted, and pay close attention to Sandor.

Emma I know we don't actually see him die in the show, but that's as much as I'd like to know....
