Romance Lovers for the Challenge-Impaired discussion

Hi,

I am looking for a couple of historical romances that my friend swears are great, but can't remember the names of! I have googled until my palms are raw, but couldn't find them, and I was hoping you could help me.

The first one is a book where the heroine lives with her uncle's family who are abusive towards her. The hero comes to their house to propose to the heroine's cousin, who is considered to be the diamond of the season, but finds out that she is an unsavory character. He leaves and on his way out, the heroine runs away from her uncle's house and lands in his path. He decides to take her with him, and launch her into the society with the help of his grandmother...


The second book, the one she remembers least about, is that the heroine loves her food, moans when she is eating and that is how she meets the hero. She wears glasses and is bookish.
