Jay Howard (jay_howard) This thread is now open for you to join GROUP 31 by adding your GR (not Amazon) book link. We have 10 places – I’ll add your name as you sign in. We’ll aim to get started in just a few weeks so once you’ve signed in watch for a message that we’re ready to start.

When you add your book link it not only indicates you want to join the group – it indicates you AGREE that you are WILLING TO REVIEW ANY ALLOCATED BOOK within the set 12 week limit.

There is no genre filtering.

If you are only willing to review your own preferred genres then sorry, but you’re better off finding a group that specialises in your preference. Here you might be asked to review fiction/non-fiction, adults’/children’s books, a religious text, BDSM, or anything in between. Allocation is entirely random and there will NOT be any rearranging of the listing to accommodate genre preference. The ONLY circumstance in which you may duck out of giving a review is if YOU provide a stand-in reviewer.

Let’s be honest here – we don’t all like the same things but we all want reviews. The only way this group can function is if we trust each other to behave honourably. And it IS perfectly possible to give a fair-minded review of a text that does not coincide with our normal choice of reading matter. If you need a few hints/tips, please see this thread:

So if your back is to the future, do you walk forward into the past?

Must stop doing this - we're supposed to forming a group! All move over to Want to chat?

message 23: by Peter (new)

Peter ▲▲▲▲ Payne (pyramid) Count me in.

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/2...

I would like to read Cloud Storage. It sounds fractured and crazy in a good way.

Too bad everything isn't set up yet. I've got time this weekend to read and review 4 books in a row.

message 24: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Hi, Peter, good to see you back :)

message 25: by Bonnie (new)

Bonnie Ferrante (bonnieferrante) Sign me up please.

Bonnie

message 26: by Peter (new)

Peter ▲▲▲▲ Payne (pyramid) howdy!

message 27: by Samuel (new)

Samuel | 127 comments Hi, Peter.

I can send Cloud Storage through to you now, if that's okay with Jay.

message 28: by Peter (new)

Peter ▲▲▲▲ Payne (pyramid) cool

message 29: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Sam, Peter - sorry but no, that's not OK. What if you are due to review Peter's book, Sam? That would create a reciprocal situation which is against group rules. Please wait and see what the group review ordering is.

Once the group is finished I obviously have no say what the 2 of you do, but for now I must insist on no book swapping between group members.

Please post your GR book link here so we know what book you want reviewed.

Samuel | 127 comments Okay, no biggie.

message 32: by Jay (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) You never know - he may get lucky. We get a lot of returning members these days: the ordering will depend on prevention of clashes.

Hey, have you seen my latest post about the group? We now have over 1,000 members!!!

message 33: by Peter (new)

Peter ▲▲▲▲ Payne (pyramid) cool. i just want to read it for free. no review necessary. unless thats against the rules or something. "Zombie Theory" is a lame duck and i know it. the only reason why im on here is to critique (or just read with no critique) other people's books and thereby improve my own writing skills. on a side note, ive noticed that most of the top books on goodreads are romance and erotica. hmmm. it's amazing what you can learn by studying trends and critically reading other people's works.

well, those are my motives. just wanted to air them out so everyone will know my intentions here, that's all.

message 34: by Peter (new)

Peter ▲▲▲▲ Payne (pyramid) 1000 members? wow. i feel for the moderators!

Jay Howard (jay_howard) Peter wrote: "cool. i just want to read it for free. no review necessary. unless thats against the rules or something. "Zombie Theory" is a lame duck and i know it. the only reason why im on here is to critique ..."

Thanks for being up front with us. You are free to join this group if you wish, since the only criterion is that your book has been published and is currently available online. However, if you really feel that is the case with Zombie Theory, is it fair to ask the group members to review it? There are other groups who will help with critiques if you want to work on it and improve it. We don't offer critiques or editorial suggestions here, just reviews.

Perhaps a better solution for you in the Review Group would be as a registered reader. That way all books that have been through our review process are available for you to request a copy from our authors in order to review them. Here's the link for the Registered Readers' Group:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

message 36: by Peter (new)

Peter ▲▲▲▲ Payne (pyramid) well, ill never improve if i don't get reviews. so i'll stay here.

and yeah, after comparing my reviews to other peoples reviews in group 28, i realized that i was critiquing books as opposed to reviewing them. being here has really been helpful. ive learned to be a little more objective and a little less over-opinionated and critical when reviewing.

thanks for the link. havent clicked on it yet (im busy working on a sci-fi comedy right now, hence the rushed, lower-case typing), but ill definitely check it out later.

message 37: by Jay (last edited Feb 22, 2014 04:11PM) (new)

Jay Howard (jay_howard) You're welcome to stay in the group, Peter - decision is yours. Is your comment about your book a shade of too much modesty perhaps?

I've just read the reviews you already have. They're good, no 'dead in the water' there. In fact, I'm rather intrigued, and I never thought that would be the case with a book that included the word 'zombie' in the title.

That's OK, then, as we don't start for a week. Just post the link as soon as you have it and make it a priority to get the file to your first round reviewer so they have the full 3 weeks for round 1. thanks.
