Pamela Su (thebluebaroness) | 247 comments Non-romance (aka misc. [Hahaha!]): I'm almost done with Raising Steam and while I didn't love it as much as the City Watch series, I definitely loved reconnecting with Moist and the rest of the citizens on Discworld. :D

Romance: Between Sinners and Saints impressed me by its thoughtful handling of the conflicts that arise from being gay in a doctrinal religious family and issues from childhood trauma. I loved how the romance wasn't overshadowed by these normally dark themes, but at the same time, it wasn't treated superficially. It was a lovely story.

On the non-fiction end, I really enjoyed Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly. His voice comes through in the autobiography and from it's charming, rather messy structure, you can tell there's no ghost writer here to polish up his words. If you're a fan of Bourdain, you'll absolutely love this book. If you aren't, you might find the book a little too brash for your tastes. I'm not a real fan of his shows, but I appreciate his unapologetic outlook on life.

Raising Steam (Discworld, #40) by Terry Pratchett Between Sinners and Saints by Marie Sexton Kitchen Confidential Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly by Anthony Bourdain
