From This Moment On, by Lynn Kurland

To avoid being wed to the fiercest man in England, Colin of Berkhamshire, Alienore of Solonge flees her home disguised as Sir Henri, a young knight. After hiding out for nearly two years and serving as an escort for the ever-hungry Lady Sybil, Alienore sees the opportunity for which she has been waiting: once she escorts the recently betrothed Sybil to her new home, she'll run away. But to Alienore's great surprise, Sybil's new fiance turns out to be Colin, the Butcher of Berkhamshire!

As Alienore plots to find some way to yet again escape from Colin, the brutal warrior decides he will teach Henri how to be a "real" knight.

Kurland's latest romance is a deftly plotted delight, seasoned with a wonderfully wry sense of humor and graced with endearing, unforgettable characters, including a trio of healer-witches, a rough-around-the-edges hero who can't understand why all his fiancees flee or faint at the sight of him, and a heroine who discovers she is stronger than she ever imagined.

This is #9 in the De Piaget series, but the fourth book we will read, as we are reading these two intertwining series in chronological order.

There are several different ways to approach these intertwining series (Kurland's Two Series: De Piaget & The MacLeods). We have decided to go by this one, suggested by

This series read continues in March. This one is a combination of Medieval Romances and Time Travel. (Some books will not have the Time Travel element.)

Please join us, or just stop in and say, "Hi!" or tell us which cover you prefer. But...

Expect Spoilers!

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments It feels so weird to be reading them in this order, even though it makes sense. But I always feel "wrong"!!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I got to find my book. I'll have to dig through the boxes in the garage. I'm pretty sure it is in the "K" box of authors... but I need someone to move the boxes for me. Man-oh-man! I used to be strong enough for that kind of stuff. **sigh**

Nichole | 512 comments Hopefully I will have read the last one by then, lol. I will be done with both team challenges and should be able to read it with everyone else :)

Nichole | 512 comments And yay, it's available on kindle!

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I'm so happy it's available on kindle. My eyes cannot handle paperbacks!

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Has everyone started this? I really like Colin. He's got a soft side and I can't wait for Ali to see it.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I'll be starting in the next day or so. I had to finish some books for other challenges. I know I've read this one, but I don't remember it.

message 16: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I'll be picking it up soon, I hope. I have the paperback in a box in the garage. I made my way to the box I thought it was in, only to find it now there. I requested it for eBook download from the library, but I'm on the waitlist. (Only the person reading it in front of me.)

I do remember reading it. Loved the characters in this one.

Nichole | 512 comments I started last night but haven't gotten very far. As soon as I sat down in my chair I had a hard time keeping my eyes open, lol.

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I finished this today. I think this is my favorite. I really liked Colin :)

Nichole | 512 comments I'm at about 70%. I agree with you though, I'm really enjoying this one. There have been a lot of LOL moments.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I'm behind again! So sad.

message 21: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments I still haven't started. I guess I can try and see if I can dig it out of the box in the garage. I just can't lift those boxes like I used to be able to do. Otherwise, I have to wait for the library download.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments Well, I'm glad that someone is behind like me, LK! I wish I had that excuse - mine is just getting behind on books for other challenges!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Yes, I find the longer I'm on GRs, the more I bite off more than I can chew. LOL! I remember thinking GRs would help me narrow down my choice. Ha! Big laugh that.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I'm having a hard time adjusting to working and reading. I think I can still read as much as I did before but then - noooooo, I can't. And it frustrates me.

What is frustrating for you is awe-inspiring to me, LOL. 85 books so far? That's freaking amazing!

I know right! Lol.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments Thanks, Nichole!! That definitely helps me put it in perspective. It's all in how you look at it!!

And now for some reason, I have the book on my kindle app, but it won't download. It keeps telling me there is an error.

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Weird. Do you need to update your software? They made me do that awhile ago, which I didn't know they would even do!

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments Well, it just updated - which often causes problems. I will try again today. I am home sick with a cold. Yuck. But at least it's giving me lots of time to read.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments By the way, I just finished a scottish history/ time travel book by an author I've never read before and it was pretty good.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments oh, Thanks LK!! That does make me feel better. And I got the book to download, so that's good.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I started this last night! And I have to say I really like the order we've chosen to read these in. Makes so much sense!

message 33: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments GTK, ~Leslie~. Alas, I still don't have this from the library. I wonder what the problem is? So weird. They keep showing me on the waitlist as "1 of 1." I don't believe anyone can renew a book when there is a request from someone else.

message 34: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments The way we're reading these is chronological, right?

message 35: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Susan (susayq ~) wrote: "The way we're reading these is chronological, right?"

Yes. Not published date.

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I've had that happen to me before LK and it's really annoying. I've also had the library make me go on a waitlist for a book and there aren't any copies checked out. Don't understand. I know ebook checkouts are actually controlled by the publisher and their contract with the library. Maybe only so many people can check it out in a period of time.

This one is starting slow for me. I don't feel very interested in Colin - maybe it's because he smells. Not sure. That just seems weird to me. Why would the author do that?

message 37: by Lisa Kay, Moderator (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments LOL! I know I ended up loving Colin, so keep whittling away at it while I wait (not so) patiently. It is frustrating, because I'm having other books come in for which I'm on the waitlist. Weird.

message 38: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments Leslie, I also thought it strange that she would make him stink. That's definitely NOT on our list of qualities for a good lover lol

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I'm just trying to understand the point of it. I know that people actually didn't bathe a lot back then but I prefer to think that they all smelled good. And I know she likes to be realistic. But still.

A lot of people didn't bathe then; they thought it made you sick.

Nichole | 512 comments LOL! It is weird and not something you want to think about :P Luckily for us she doesn't write explicit love scenes, eeeeeeww!

Even though he's smelly I still really liked this one. It had the most humor in it so far.

message 43: by Susan (susayq ~), Moderator (new) - rated it 4 stars

Susan (susayq ~) (susayq) | 6062 comments I've also liked this one the best so far.

At least he realized he smelled and cleaned up before being with Ali LOL

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments I just finished and I enjoyed it but definitely not my favorite.
He may have bathed but we never heard about her bathing except once! So I guess they really were well suited.

Loved the bedroom scene after they were married. And I loved it when he said he had decided to become the best lover the same way he became the best swordsman. With lots of practice!
But she annoyed me too much when she still thought he was going to kill her. But I loved the scene of her fighting evil Maria. All in all pretty enjoyable!!

Lisa Kay (lisakayalicemaria) | 20787 comments Glad you enjoyed it, ~Leslie~! I'll keep you all post as to when I read it. Good Gravy Beans, I hope it not into next month; although, I do need another pink book for May. ☺

~Leslie~ (akareadingmachine) | 845 comments Thanks, yall! It was definitely a fun read - Lynn Kurland does have a great sense of humor.

Oooops, forgot you hadn't read it yet, LK! Hope I didn't have any spoilers.

I hope it comes soon!!
