I never realized this was a series. I think I remember reading it as a kid, but I'm not sure which one? I somehow remember getting confused between this crazy redhead and Pollyanna. Maybe because they were both "out of the box" in their social circles?

Anyway, I put it on hold at the library and it says it's 160 pages, which is longer than I remember. Maybe I just had a shortened picture book version? Did anyone ever read more in the series?

Meg (megw) I never read this but always liked the movie(s) when I was growing up. I think I was vaguely aware that there was a series. It's pretty silly and cute. It doesn't seem like 160 pages but it is more like a series of pippi stories- not necessarily needed to be read in order. So far. I'd probably read the others as well eventually.

Sandra Heinzman (vasandra) I'm starting this TODAY; should finish it today or tomorrow. What did the rest of you think of it?

Sandra Heinzman (vasandra) Okay, I read the entire book over lunch today. It was cute! I never read it when I was a child, or when my kids were little, either. It's not my favorite children's book, but I did laugh at parts.

Jennifer | 285 comments I adored Pippi Longstocking as a child and she was my favourite literary character at one point. I loved the fact that she was really an orphan for the most part and I loved her red hair with braids that stuck out. Haven't re-read this as an adult and now I am wondering if I should. It appears that no one here loved it.

It's funny the stories we read as children and think nothing of how ridiculous they are, then as adults, we can't begin to have the imagination to create such delightful stories. It's fun to revisit them :)

Renee So I finally got around to reading this one. It was okay. I liked it, but it's not my favourite children's book. It's really just a different story for every chapter, some of them are amusing. I thought the circus chapter was the best one. Picturing Pippi causing havoc at the circus.
