I thought initially it would be ok because it has avalanches in it, but not all of them are the product of nature. It would seem after reading 70 pages or so that the first two that occur may have been triggered by humans, but the Good Reads description leads me to believe that others may be the product of Mother Nature.

I can't tell from the description. If you find that there is in fact a natural disaster here, then you'll need to explain that when you post.

Thanks, I think I'll read it and if it doesn't work, it will be my pick for 5.10

There you go! Always good to have a backup slot.

I don't recall that the storm in Shutter Island had any sort of catastrophic consequences, but only that it was a plot device to keep them on the island. However, it's been a few years since I read it, so if there were in fact catastrophic events caused by the hurricane, explain that when you post it.

I haven't read any of them, so I can't really say. Inferno sounds as if it's about an arsonist, in which case it wouldn't work - that's not a force of nature. The other two sound as if a major natural disaster is involved. If so, just briefly explain it when you post.

Hard to tell from the description - since it says that the main character is an "arson investigator," that suggests that arson is involved. If you read it, and the fire is a NATURAL disaster, not arson, then explain that when you post.

yes, a tornado is a natural disaster. Keep in mind that this is a childrens book, so you'll need to include the required info.
